Question about Hoover U5288-900 Upright Vacuum

1 Answer

LOUD hoover It's vacuuming well but is extremely loud. I'm a drummer so I don't have what you'd call sensitive ears, and my ears are ringing after a mere 10 minutes of having the vacuum on!

If this sounds like an airplane taking off, then for your hoover U5288-900 it will have to be the fan that is inside the motor compartment. i have looked at hoover.com and cannot find the part num. to the fan, but i know that you can replace it. you can also get one from your local vac shop. if you do get a fan for this and need help in changing it. write me back if you get stuck. hope this helps

ok i have found the part # 43565006, but i have tried to see if hoover has it and i can't pull that part up. you can try to see about calling them to see if they have the part in stock or you can go to an outside source like vac parts for cheap or your local vac shop. the fan that you do take off will not be the same as the one that you buy. the part # that i provided has more fins on it the your. basicaly its alittle better and provides a little more sucktion. hope this helps

Just bought this Hoover Fusion vaccum used, cleaned it up, checked belt and filter, turned it on and is extremely loud, almost like a scream. Any idea what could be causing this and how to fix?

Loud noises from this model are caused by dirt build up on the suction fan mounted directly to the motor. Under the dirt cup there is a filter screen that should have a foam filter insert, when not used or cleaned properly allows dirt to get into the motor. Cleaning is the best option. Although if you are inclined, you can take it apart or take it to your local deaLer.

Extremely loud and smells like rubber burning

the loud will be the line is clog up and need to unclog the line, rubber burning will be the belt, which is worn or the brush is jam not allowing the brush to spin freely. check and clean the line and inspect th belt which run from the motor to the brush

Really loud noise.
Posted by Theresa626 on July 20, 2008
The belt inside my Hoover broke and so we replaced it. But when we did, it now makes an extremely loud noise when turned on. We think it’s the roller to the vacuum because it doesn't make a noise when the roller is not in there. The roller sounds like its hitting something. However, we have pushed and pulled and done everything and all seems to be right. Everything is clicked in and the belt is on correctly and we've followed the manual. How can I fix this problem?
Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. It sounds to me that it is a bad brushroll and could need new bearings or a complete new brushroll depending on if id is metal word or plastic. Some brushrolls are rebuildable and some are not, you can check your owner’s manual to see if it is or is not; or it could be the start of a broken fan blade or bearing in the motor section. But that is the only thing that I can think of that might be wrong. Feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or you can also contact the Hoover website or cust serv phone # listed below. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Extremely loud

Mine started making a lot of noise and my husband noticed the brushroll was slightly bent. I have no idea how this happened, but I noticed several people online were having the same problem. I ordered a new brushroll and popped it in and solved the problem. The noise before I did this was horrible! It is now back to normal.

Loud noise when running.

Bad bearing or fan in the motor is most likely the problem. You would have to replace the motor.

Its an inherent problem with any Dynammite model = the fact that the motor is at the front means that it is extremely noisy.
