The handle broke off my Sony Model CFD-8/2 which makes it difficult to carry and even more so because of my arthritis. I want to jury rig a handle and wanted to know how to open the case without damaging electrical components. I don't have the broken handle but can make a suitable replacement. I have had this boombox for over 15 years and it is not portable in its' present condition. If I remove all the screws facing the back will there be any surprise pieces falling out?

nothing should fall out , but not sure if that is going to be your remedy. if the sides are metel you might try fastening a strap with some self tapping(short) screws. that wont touch anything inside that will short out the unit
