There is no cheap fix. The phosphor is burnt on the Picture tubes shadow mask. All 3 tubes plus labor = $1200 if your lucky

These Medallions have some of the worst problems caused by wiring faults. They over heat and go into sleep mode. Try getting a can of compressed air and cleaning out the dust.

I have a mitsubishi medallion 65 rear projection it has a couple blue dots on the screen was is the solution to the fix

roquebum,

Unfortunately you have an optical engine going bad. The TFT panels take alot of heat and go bad. The fix is to replace the optical engine. Could be expensive and on this model there is a history of electrolytic capacitor problems on the DM and power board. I have a tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4251975-replace_dlp_light_engine which explains the problem, where to get the parts at the best price and how to perform the repair.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating.

The Light Box can be removed but that will not help you. I do not know of any way to shorten the TV.

Mitsubishi WS 65857 Picture problem.

Mitsubishi's have been known to "burn in" when you have a stationary image on the screen for too long. Usually its not a problem but in some cases I've seen..if its hours and hours of game play..or even places like home shopping network that have phone numbers that never move during the broadcast...it can cause the image to burn the screen.

The projection tubes would not be burned...it would be the mirror viewing screen.
