Re: transfer belt for the oki 9300 led printer

Swith off the machine before installing new units. Also check for toner dust on pins and also check to see if the pins are not bent. You can also try leaving the machine switched off for about an hour unplugged from the mains.

Am getting error 356: Belt Life - Is there a way to replace that yourself?

I suspect this is the transfer belt that needs to be replaced. I've seen the error as 355 not 356 but that could be depend on when in the life-cycle of the belt you see the error. You can replace this yourself. The entire list of steps is given here for the C5150n: . (The entire manual is here: .)
The transfer belt, part 42158711, costs ~$210 from this vendor: . It's probably close to $250 from OKI. Staples has it for $270; lists one for $166.

To replace the transfer belt, you have to take out the image drums and put them in black plastic bags (if you take more than 5 minutes to replace the belt). Remember their order. Then locate the blue locks on each side of the belt unit and rotate them about 45 degrees to unlock them. Lift out the belt unit using the handle at the front. Unpack the new belt and hold it with the handle to the front of the printer. Catch the gear at the back with the drive gear on the belt unit. Lock the blue locks and then reinstall the image drums.

I hope this helps.

My Oki C5800 says "Replace Belt, 355: Belt Life" but I was told I could reset it without changing it if it was still good. How?

requires a fuse that sits underneath the transfer belt. However the belt itself would be full of waste toner that would need to be emptied

Oki 5150 color are not print right

You need to replace the magenta drum. Just because there is life left; it's possible it is scratched. Also, take a cotton ball dip in alcohol and wipe the LED's off when the cover is open; those black things that are hanging down from the cover. Also, make sure your drums are installed in the proper spots (magenta in magenta slot). If the toner "rubs off" after it prints... then the fuser is defective.

My oki transfer belt is saying that it has run its course despite it has just been installed ( new)

The waste toner bottle is on the underside of the transfere belt. Becareful when you unclip as it can break. Another option is to drill a small hole on the back to empty the toner and then seal it up again. You do this at your own risk so becareful!
