Brown and grrey brown strip go to seperate capacitor. but you can tale off the gray/brown and use it by putting it on the capacitor where the other wire come off. Russ

So when the one I went to pull out fell apart before making anything I pulled the other one apart. Okay, on the white plastic there are numbers l(1), ll(2), lll(3). Orange wire l(1), nothing in ll(2), blue wire lll(3). Now on the black plastic, the outlet wires go here: black wire L, white outlet is 180degrees (by orange wire) NEUTRAL SPLICER. Now, white wire from motor goes into the other side of the NEUTRAL SPLICER next to the black wire on the black plastic. This is just above the ll(2) on the white plastic. REMEMBER - NOTHING GOES INTO THE ll(2) ON THE WHITE PLASTIC.

Replaced a ge condensor fan 3 wire with new dayton the wires are different...old fan has a wire connectort mouted to it orange, black yellow, the new one 2brown 1 with white stripe, purple, black, i have...

the new ge fan requires its own capacitor, the brown and the brown/white go direct to new fan capacitor. black to relay (leg one of power) purple to relay (leg two of power. the compressor will have a wire to the relay and the other to the herm terminal. you now will have nothing to the original capacitor fan terminal.
The new motor will have the diagram showing this. you need the capacitor that goes with the new motor. the grainger guy should have sold that to you with the motor.

How to install my 80/7.5mfd capacitor in my condensor

Turn power off to the condensor. Remove cover. You will see your existing capacitor. Make sure its just the cap too by verifying that the top is bowed or you see fluid leaking from the top rim. Assumming you don't have a tool to read mfd's. Use an insulated tool and with the metal part short between two of the wire connections. Write down the wire connections, usually yellow is C brown is cond fan and black or blue is herm (compressor). Then just remove wires and install new. If motor still don't work its a bad motor prob. You will needs to do an ohms tests if you have the tools. Hope this covers most of what you will run into. Take your time and be safe you make a better ground then the unit has.

ok. hope this helps, use a switch from FANTEC. it'll be called a 3 speed fan switch. CAM #5 No. 21105. this will also say Single Layer 3 or 4 wire application SPLIT continuity function.. THE SPLIT PART IS VITAL. now when wire it. the BLACK wire goes in SLOT 3. ORANGE wire goes in L. PURPLE wire goes in slot 2, ORANGE wire goes in slot 1. IF, and i repeat IF this does not work for you ensure you have a SPLIT CONTINUITY FUNCTION switch. NO MATTER WHAT the BLACK wire WILL go into slot 3. the ORANGE wire WILL go in slot L. switch the orange and purple wires only. ENSURE POWER IS OFF WHEN CONNECTING OR DISCONNECTING WIRES. YOU WILL GET THE SNOT ZAPPED OUTTA YOU IF YOU DON'T. please post if this helps.
