Hello, i am actually asking on behalf of my friend. She says that her hp laptop is having trouble. she can not charge her battery.....and believes it is the motherboard or the charger. But she has ruled out the charger because she just purchased a charger. She has to wiggle the charger a certain way in order for it to charge. Could this be the motherboard. After buying a charger for the second time what else could it be. The computer is still working, but can not do any functions because of the battery situation, defaulting everything else.

The connection from the external power supply to the inner power supply is damaged. This is one of the most common problems with laptops. Find a repair shop that can re-solder the power receptacle.

The repair price varies but I would say $75 to $150. You have to determine whether it is worth it or not.

How to fix hp elitebook 6930p no battery is detected

I don't believe that the problem is something as simple as an exhausted battery because in this case your laptop should detect a battery with 0% of charge. Read first this tutorial:

I have hp 110 mini windows 7 laptop and the problem I having is that the laptop won,t charge its not the battery so what could be the problem?

Best hope that it's the charger. You should chack it if it chages. to do that you need some electronic testers that probably you don't have so should take it to a repair shop and heve it checked.

With the power off, disconnect the adapter and remove and reinsert the battery.

I bought a replacement battery for my hp pavillion 6775us, and charged it and discharged it then charged to full and the battery check said i needed to replace it. it wasn't an HP original equipment...

Hello,

First of all, disconnect your battery from back of the

laptop, then try and get a friend or a technician that

uses the same type of laptop, and try to swap the

battery just to check whether it works and charges

it properly. Also do the same thing with the

Adapter/Charger and charge it with it.

This is because, there are two diagnostic possibilities

here:

1.) It is either the battery that you bought is not good

and you need to return it quickly before its too late

or;

2.) The charger that you are using is bad, or not

supplying enough current to charge the battery

cells...and this might even damage the battery after

a while, or make the battery not to charge to its full

capacity and as well discharge quickly.

Try this out and let me know how it goes.

Hope this helps you out.

Goodluck and thanks for using fixya.

Kindly Let me know how it goes.

Hope this helps.

Goodluck!

Hello my friend try to check your battery if it still working or charging. If you have tester then try to test it or find a technician or a person who are more knowledgable in electrical stuff in your area to have an actual testing of your battery. The proble of that is either the battery of the supply but as you describe that it is not charging then i am sure that battery is something to do with that.
Thanks

My Hp Pavilion Laptop says: 0% available (plugged in, charging)

Unfortunatelly, not much you can do!
Most likely it is up to the battery.

Such things are not unusual. My friends laptop battery died at once (just like yours) in about two weeks after he bought it. Fortunately, it was under warranty and battery was replaced with a new one..

Normally it takes time the batteries come weaker, but even then, they can keep laptop running for some short time (seconds to minutes).

The laptop battery is made of a group of batteries, (maybe six or nine) and it is possible that only one of them is completelly dead. That makes a break in the battery circuit, means no other battery can be loaded with power, and that's why you don't have a second of battery power.

You may try two things:

First unplug the power and unplug the battery. Check if some dirt, dust or corrosion is on the contacts of the battery or contacts on the laptop.
If so, carefully try to clean it, and then try to charge.

Other thing you can try is to go to the shop you bought your laptop (or any other shop) and ask them if they have one on stock, to check if your laptop will work (even for seconds).
If so, than you have to buy a new battery.

At the end, please DO NOT OPEN your battery. Nothing you will find inside. Replacement of the batteries inside will NOT WORK !

Regards.
