SOURCE: Sub-Woofer blowing fuses.

You should open it up and look for a short. Usually, an exposed wire is touching metal. Wrap the wire with electrical tape and look for a ground wires that are loose. That will blow fuses too.

Power sub woofer is not working on my pioneer vsx-81txv everything is working all the speakers except the power sub connection at the back all i can hear is the hissing sound when i try to connect the sub...

Hissing? How loud? A sub isn't even capable of making high frequency sounds at normal volumes.

The Pioneer manual would tell you how to enable and test the subwoofer output.

I have a active sub woofer (akari bazooka) but the only connections available are the speaker connections. The front of the sub woofer has volume adjustment. How can I connect this sub woofer to my Harman...

hi,
You can't connect the pre out of your AVR to this sub woofer. Do one thing connect the frond left/ right channel speaker "B" out of harman kardon to the sub woofers left right speaker in put. you can connect the speaker out "A" to your normal left right speakers. Remember to switch Speaker "A" and "B" in ON position in your AVR. Also do one thing go to the speaker setup of AVR and switch OFF (slelect NONE) the sub woofer. This will disconnect the sub woofer pre our and the sub frequency will mix with frond left right channels.

Popping harman kardon subwoofer

Mine did the same thing all of a sudden. The problem is a AC mains detection circuit that seems to affect many previous HK sub models. The solution that worked for me was to replace capacitor C112 on the main pcb of the subwoofer amplifier. You need to remove it from the circuit board with a soldering gun and replace it with a higher rated capacitor. I used a 2u2 40v and the subwoofer is working perfectly again! :)

Need to repair my HKTS 14 Harman Kardon Subwoofer

Since this is a power sub woofer, it may have an amplifier problem that would require professional service. Yoiu can start by checking the fuse. Make sure the sub woofer is not plugged into the wall when you check it. Some of these powered sub woofers have the fuse right on the panel where the cord goes into. It may have a round cap and you turn it and pull the fuse out. If the fuse is blackend or you can see that the filiment inside the fuse it broken, you can replace the fuse with the same rating of fuse. The rating is on the metal tab at one end of the fuse or may also be listed right next to the cap for the fuse holder. If the fuse is not accesable from the panel, you need to remove panel and look for it where the power cord comes into the panel. It will be right in line with the power cord. The panel for most sub woofers are normally held on by screws all the way around the panel. You should only need to take the outside screws (around the edge of panel) off of the panel. The inside screws hold on the circuit boards, connectorsm and transformer.

If you had given more information about the problem with your sub woofer I could have given you a better answer, but with the limited information given all I can suggest right now is to check the fuse. That is always a good starting point. If you give me more information I may be able to help you much more, I have repaired many powered sub woofers but not this model. Most are very similar and can be checked with minimal effort. You would need to have a multimeter to check almost everything else with the sub woofer. Let me know if you have a multimeter and are willing to check it further. Anything less than a "FixYa!" rating is really not a good rating, so please do not rate this solution until we have had a chance to communicate more about the problem. That way I will not be given a bad rating when I have not had a chance to actually help you yet since I can not tell you how to fix your problem without more information.

Wharfdale PC 10 subwoofer

Some basic trouble shooting is required here. First you need to see if it is a problem from your source or the sub. Try a different source to the sub-woofer and see if it changes the response. If still nothing on the sub, then most likely there is an issue with the amp or driver. Check to see if there is a fuse on the sub, if so, it could be blown. There could also be an issue with the auto switching circuit on the subs amp, in that case, it would need to be repaired in the shop. But before that I would check all of the connections to the sub, and also to the driver in the cabinet. If everything looks good, then put some type of source directly to the woofer to see if it works, if you get sound, then looks like the amp has a problem. Again a repair or replace issue.
