First check and make sure that the water is not leaking from the hose connection to the dishwasher or the drain fitting itself. If neither of these is the problem and it is definetly leaking from the housing then replace. I recommend the Badger series disposal with a 5 or 7 tear warranty I have installed them for years and never had a single problem.

Garbage disposer leaking at bottom

Since you have checked all pipes and see no leaks next please check the area around the top and bottom of drain housing. If that's not leaking there is a gasket inside the disposal that could fail and cause water to leak into the motor area and then leak through the bottom of the unit. Generally in my experience replacing the whole unit is a time saver because access to that gasket is a pain and finding the right gasket can be timely. Depending on how old the unit is I would just replace it.

Garbage disposal leaking on the bottom?

DO NOT RUN THE UNIT UNTIL YOU STOP THE LEAK!!!
Either the sink seal is leaking or the internal motor shaft seal is bad. If it is the motor seal and the unit is more than 5 years old, replace the disposal. Replace the seal only if you have the appropriate skill.

How does the bottom plate come off a badger garbage disposal

Hi, the only plate that should be removed on the bottom is for wiring the power cord to the unit. If there is water leaking, specifically from the bottom of the unit, it's leaking through the enClosure assembly which is not serviceable. If the unit isn't that old it might just be leaking from the sink flange or mounting gasket at the top of the unit which at times can be difficult to detect. Or possibly the gaskets at the drain assembly for the unit. Hope this helps ;)

Badger 5 leaking from body middle connection

1) Copy following link for troubleshoot and parts resources, and manuals with warranty information:
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-repair-and-install-Garbage-disposal.html

2) New unit would be best solution. And possibly cheapest solution. Otherwise you might be installing and un-installing more than once or twice ... which is fun if you have time, and other housemates don't mind kitchen project tools, water and mess.

3) If you can disassemble the disposal, you might be able to make your own gasket using kits and sealant from local auto parts .... assuming the metal was not mis-cast during manufacture and is warped so it never seals.

Garbage Disposal Leaks from the bottom.

Hi GF,

Unless there is a leak at the sink gasket that makes it appear that the unit is leaking from the bottom, it's probably the main seal in the unit. It's generally not worth it to attempt disassembly and repair, especially if the unit is 10 years old or older.

Just remember to make sure the power is off before you attempt any
troubleshooting or replacement.

Be safe...
