You have a valve stuck open.Remove the plug and hold your thumb over the plug hole while trying to start it.You should feel the compresion blowing passed your thumb. If not then it is a valve. If you have good compression. Then check the spark plug and fuel supply.Good luck.

How do I replace a brake booster on a 1998 Buick LeSabre? Brakes hold but make a whooshing when applied.

May not be the booster as some do make a noise when the brakes are applied. To test press the brakes several times with engine off, Press the pedal down hard and start the engine , the pedal should move down slightly and there should be no whooshing sound . if the above is ok so is the booster.

Go to Autozone or Advance Auto Parts... NOW. Ask them to (for free) plug in a code reader and pull codes from the computer. They might even tell you what the codes mean. Otherwise check back here.
