Fryed switch or fryed burner
if smoke came from inside stove likely the burner is fryed
try setting oven to broil and see if it heats up
if it does replace lower burner

Oven was heating and we got HEAVY smoke....

Nothing in the elements, thermostat thermocouples are gas filled, sensors have wiring inside, nothing in the liner or insulation. You said this was a stove, and some stoves have a vent that goes up through one of the burners on the top. If you had oil splatter or drip into this it can get into your oven. We do know that some blower fans on convection ovens have a sealed oil bearing, but there would be very little oil coming out of this (drops) and you will notice your fan getting noisier or running slower in the near future. Stove burners don't get hot enough and the oven takes a long time to preheat

sounds like its wired incorrectly .. the stove operates on two phases of 120 volts each .. together they form a 240 volt supply .. if its wired incorrectly you may be getting only 120 volts .. it will then take 4 times as long to heat .. have an electrician or someone skilled in that sort of thing, check the voltage at the plug .. and make sure the pig tail is attached correctly to the stove .. check the circuit breakers .. there is one for each phase .. but if one is tripped then some functions wont work at all unless there is a second problem (shorted phase) in which case it will work but have the 4 times as long to heat problem and it will trip the circuit breaker immediatly .. ..

Stove wont heat up. Stove top elements are working fine. do you think it is the heating coil/element in the oven?

Kenmore ultra self cleaning oven or top heat

I found that the 220 plug had burned out, that was where the smoke came from. The display worked because the ground "prong" was the only one burned. Had to replace the electrical 220 socked and the electrical plug on the oven.

Oven doesnt work

If it is a fan assisted model, check that the fan blades are not catching the back panel in the oven itself, the fan mat be worn or the blade loose or bent.
Plz rate this solution.
Thanks.

Kenmore ultrabake lights up when stove top is on but wont heat up

Hard to know...First thing I'd check is the power supply to the unit.  Turn off both breakers.  Check wiring all the way through for tightness.  Turn both breakers on.  Next, you'll need to check the elements for continuity...with the power off.
