SOURCE: 2004 Nissan Quest front control arm bushing replacement.

Sorry guys not a solution but I too have an 04 Quest, which supposedly has worn controller arm bushings and Nissan says I need both controller arms replaced. For a total of $950!!! I was told that they need to replace the whole arm and cannot replace only the bushings. Now reading the posts on this site I find that to be untrue. Seems all I need to spend is anywhere from $25 to $35 per bushing.

How do i fix it

Sway bar bushing, Ball joints and Strut Mounts make these noises. See if the ball joint have grease fittings then get them greased. Check if Control arm bushings have play and can they be pumped with grease. If Control arm bushings have play then change the complete Control arm which will be economical in the long run. Please check and get back to me with more information.

How to repair vw

Lift Vehicle and place on axle stands. Remove wheels. Disconnect the lower control arm from the bolts that hold the ball joint, or from the knuckle. Undo the rear two bolts that hold the ''D'' shaped rear bush and the bolt that holds the forward bush. Have it pressed out and replace with new one. Reverse the procedure for installation. While the arm is out check the condition of the ball joints and replace if needed. After assembly have the front wheel alignment checked.

I need to change the front bumper and the driver side wishbone on a W reg Polo tdi, could i get illustrated diagrams and easy to follow information about doing these two jobs please? Thankyou.

It would help if you join a VW forum that has Polo group. You'll have a higher chance for info regarding the vehicle.
The control arm is pretty much straight forward, I'd advice you to mark the balljoint (bottom 3 bolts carrier) by using a center punch before you loosen this bolts. This will help you put it back the same exact position and lessen the probability of messing the alignment in a big way.

I'd also suggest to replace the control arm rubber bushings if the mileage is quite high.

Lower Control Arm Bushing replacement

Hi,
I just did this job on my 98 regal, and I own the service manuals also. The lower control arm bushing that usually goes, is the front one. The rear one doesn't usually go, it is horizontally mounted. The front one for some reason is vertical. The control arm must be removed, and put in a vise. The front bushings outer metal sleeve, must be driven out with a chisel. It comes out easily. The new bushing can be tapped in with a hammer. Hope this helps!
