Question about Computers & Internet

PS/2 keyboard and mouse will not work on motherboard.

It's an MSI MS-7061 board (also known as KM4M-V) ... USB keyboard and mouse work fine. it's not the keyboard/mouse they work perfectly on any other machine (i've tried a few different kb/ms as well)

i've updated the BIOS to the latest. i've even tried turning off USB legacy device emulation for DOS because there are reports of this board not allowing a PS/2 mouse to work if that's enabled.

it's really frustrating because i use a 4-port KVM and whenever i want to use this system i have to move the regular mouse/keyboard away and stick the USB ones up on the desk. and yes, i've tried hooking up kb/ms without a KVM in the middle. makes no difference.

the rear panel USB ports don't work either. before i got this board (it was free) it looked like somebody tried forcing something into one of the USB ports back there backwards, and shorted a couple of the pins. i moved them so they're no longer touching and shorting.

it makes me wonder if it caused some permanent electrical damage to the rear USB and PS/2 ports on this board. i have to use a USB backplane where i'd put a PCI slot and connect it to the motherboard headers to use USB devices.

i'm pretty technically minded, and i've done just about everything i can think of. any clues? think i may be right about the electrical damage? maybe i should just get some PS/2 to USB adapters? i'd rather just use the PS/2 ports if possible.

I need the video driver and the network driver for my micro star MS-7061, win xp servicepack 2

Go to KM4M-L or KM4M-V. Whichever number code is on your motherboard is the one you should choose. It may not make a big difference in the end, but one of the boards is slightly different than the other, so some of the drivers will be different. I hope these links help you with resolving your problems. Please leave feedback and a vote rating. Thanks!

Mouse & keyboard not working

You're "stuck" -- if the circuitry for the PS/2 keyboard and mouse is not working, and if it does not recognize a USB keyboard, the motherboard must be replaced (by an identical moetherboard, if you can find one, or a "newer/better" motherboard that takes the same CPU and RAM as your current motherboard).

Ps/2 keyboard port not working

Slim, Other than saying well it was a good couple years for the board lets just verify: Have you tried a different keyboard? Check device manager and see if you uninstall the keyboard and then reinstall it. Or have you recently installed any new devices that may have taken the resources away from the keyboard plug? If not get a usb keyboard and make sure you info is backed up...just in case. Good Luck, Tim
