Impute jack on a kick back type cabinet. need to remove amp from cabinet to repair.

Very simple. Remove all black screws at top and sides of cabinet. Gently slide the amp unit out (towards rear). Done! :)
Don't be alarmed if you have to "tug" on it a bit. This is normal. Just don't try to "FORCE" it out.

How to open the enclosure???

Many speaker enclosures are glued together - this helps prevent vibrations of cabinet panels. Many panels are made of particle board, covered with a simple veneer. Disassembling the enclosure would likely be destructive.

The best way in, turns out to be via the largest driver - or woofer. The woofer is the largest speaker in the cabinet and is usually held in place by 4 screws. It can be removed without (or with only minimal) damage to the cabinet after removal of the screws with a screwdriver. Use of a battery operated screwdriver is discouraged due to the possibility of stripping the holes in the particle board. Once the screws are out, you might need to gently pry the outer edge of the woofer's metal frame from the cabinet with a small screwdriver to separate them.

Be prepared for the speaker to come spilling out of the cabinet. Wires on the speaker - if to be disconnected - should labeled as to which terminal they are connected - so the speaker will be in phase when reconnected. All wires to be disconnected should be labeled first! You may find filler material (looks like a thick fiberglass blanket) and crossover components (coils & capacitors) along with the additional wires between the crossover components and other speakers in the cabinet. Be careful to not accidentally disconnect wires from the internal components if you need to remove the filler material.

These are tips for opening most speaker cabinets - yours may differ slightly. Hopefully, this helps. Please rate this reply - thanks!

I have a set of teac speakers that are about 40 years old and I need to replace a woofer. I just do not know which one to buy. The speakers were bought in Germany, the model number is LS-80 and they have...

These sound like they a JBL speaker.
1. You will need the impedence and diameter spec and the Hz (hertz) specifications to get a replacement set.
you can call JBL Altec-Lansing is the company that manufacturer this series of speaker.\ On the back of you speaker cabinet should be a phone number to the company or check the user manual that you received with the speaker system and they should be able to give full information on how to replace the speaker in question or where to have it repaired.
The cabinet is glued together and will need a cabinet expert to disassemble.
Contact JBL for more information.

The amp protection circuit was actived - what should we do?

Remove all speaker wires from the receiver and turn it on.

If it still goes into protect, I'll bet the house that one of the channels is shorted out and it needs repair. This is a job for a pro.

If it doesn't go into protect, check for a short in the speaker wire or for a bad speaker.

Passport 250 PD dropped face first and it loosened the inside speaker connection

I have experience with the original Passport 250 as leader of the design team. To get inside of the speaker cabinet, you will need to remove a couple of small screws that hold in the grille at the top and bottom of the cabinet face. Once these screws are removed, you will need to carefully pry out the grille from its pressure fit in the plastic noting how it is placed so you can reassemble the grill later. Once the grille is removed you will notice several holes located around the outer perimeter of the speaker panel. Inside these holes, you will find the screws that secure the front of the cabinet (part with speaker attached) with the back of the cabinet housing. Once you have all of the screws removed, you can separate the front panel from the housing and fix the wires or dislocated parts such as crossovers, etc.

Once repaired, use the reverse method to reassemble the cabinet. Don't tighten the cabinet screws excessively as they can strip the plastic.

I hope this repair works for you.
