Question about Heating & Cooling

My window a/c dims the lights on the same curcuit

My window a/c dims the lights on the same circuit and seems like it is trying to restart about every 45-60 seconds. It is not cooling, and does not do it when just the fan is on and not cool. I replaced the capacitor but it is still doing it. Am I looking at major service?

No major service...not for the AC any way.(Read on) It is normal that lights will dim if on the same circuit with an air conditioner. When the ac is set to cool the compressor will turn on and off as it should. The compressor takes more amperage to start, that is the reason it needs a fairly large capacitor to help it out. Once it's started your lights return back to normal brightness right? Where you might have major service though is if and when you call a certified electrician to run wire for a new outlet for your ac which should always be on a circuit of it's own, but for a better reason than lights dimming...the safety of you and your family.

How do I find a short that goes to the frame as soon as I hook up the battery?

Hi Anonymous, start by isolating the circuit disconnect or remove fuses and circut breakers that go to the lights and starter. If you still have the short it's in the ignition curcuit. If not reconnect breakers and install fuses in either the light or starter curcuit. Once you determine which circuit its in use a test lite to check for continuity in the wires and connectors of the offending circuit. You can download a wiring diagram at www.officialharleyparts.com Good luck

All systems seem to work ok but battery(brand new) won't hold charge

There is one circuit or more still active when the car is at rest. Connect a tester light between battery`s (-)terminal and ground cable. If there is an active circuit the light will be on. Unplug fuses one by one leaving them outside. When the light turns off note the number of the circuit/fuse and trace the problem. If several curcuits are active, this procedure shoulde reated. Usually simple things like the glove box light switch, or the luggagecompartment light switch cause this type of problems.

BFEF373JHS1" Circuit Board

Hello Arie Sneep - If the display light is very dim, sounds like either the unit has a wiring failure or faulty EOC. Try reprogramming the range by unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. Wait approximately ten minutes and restart unit. If it proves to be ineffective, contact a professional to assist with the repairs and to move forward accurately.

This sounds like the curcuit board has failed. No repair is able to be made to the board. Just replace the board and all should be fine..

Don't start smooth

restarting of refridgerator may damage your compressor motor due to overload.

when you switch off the refridgerator the compressor is in load condition, sudden restart overload the motor, it consume more current so the light going to dim.

solution. If your refridgerator have no delay circuit inside,
use a refridgerator stabilizer or attach a delay circuit,
if you have the the restart delay circuit may problem repair it.
