Question about Sony DRU 500A DVD±RW Burner

1 Answer

DVD RW disc not being recognized

I have one disc out of three that my Windows Vista Home Premium doesn't recognize. This particular disc has Microsoft Works word documents and spreadsheets on it. Sometimes I will hear the drive trying to do something a couple of times and then it stops.
I downloaded the freeware version of "CD Recovery" and still my disc wasn't recognized. Sometimes I get a popup with three options asking me if I want to burn a DVD and I don't remember the other two options.
I have cleaned the disc with alcohol and then tried the Pledge solution but nothing has worked yet.
Does anyone have an idea on what the next step is? I have also tried to get someone else's computer to read this paricular disc but that was unsuccessful also.

Tsstcorp cddvdw ts l633p error code 19

Code 19 means there is a driver conflict such as two devices trying to use the same resources.

Try this - Control Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click the device - Driver's Tab - click
Update Drivers (this will likely do nothing) - then RIGHT CLICK the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
this will refresh the default driver stack.

Normally the above will fix that issue if not work your way down through these even if you have done
them before.

Is there a way I can finalize a DVD-RW so I can show films burned onto the DVD-RW?

Hi,

You have not pointed out what type of program are you using for DVD authoring. The option to finalize the disc is usually provided when you start burning.

I have an alternate solution for you which is easier. You can use the Windows DVD maker available in Vista Home Premium. This way you will not have to manually finalize the disc; it will take care of it itself.

Remember to install codecs such as k-lite basic coded pack for trouble free work with different formats. Then run DVD maker from the start menu. A tutorial can be accessed here.

Note that DVDs created by DVD maker can be played on most DVD players and on computer as well.

DVD plays in DVD player is not seen at all by Windows XP

Hi,it's obvious from your problem that the particular disc that cannot be viewed on your computer is of a formatt not supported by the windows XP.some DVDs are of low quality which can be viewed practically on any DVD player but as a result of their low quality and the sensitivity of the Windows they are not recognized by your computer. In as much as other DVDS play on your computer,it means there's no problem with your computer, but an unsupported disc formatt is been trying to be viewed and there's nothing you can do to view a DVD formatt not supported by your computer.please don't be bothered.
Thanks and take care

Burner does not finalize discs

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

APPLIES TO
  • Windows Vista Ultimate
  • Windows Vista Starter
  • Windows Vista Home Premium
  • Windows Vista Home Basic
  • Windows Vista Enterprise
  • Windows Vista Business 64-bit Edition

  • Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit Edition
  • Windows Vista Home Basic 64-bit Edition
  • Windows Vista Enterprise 64-bit Edition

After you install Windows Vista on a computer that uses an SiI Parallel Advanced Technology Attachment (PATA) chip from Silicon Image, the computer does not recognize an attached optical drive as a drive that supports recording. Therefore, you cannot use the computer to burn CDs or DVDs.
This problem occurs because the SCSIport driver does not populate the correct number of bytes for an IOCTL_STORAGE_QUERY_PROPERTY Request Packet (IRP) when the device does not return a correct serial number.
Service pack information loadTOCNode(2, 'resolution'); To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows Vista or download the following Hotfix.
