There is either a motherboard/cpu issue (worst case), or a power supply issue (best case, cheap and easy fix)...

without being there looking at it i can't really tell you more. if you happen to have a spare ATX power supply, open the machine and plug it in to the system instead of the old one to see what happens.

if you don't have a spare, you obviously have another working computer you're posting from so maybe borrow it's power supply and see what happens.

The best bet and I have had several customers bring systems in with this problem is you have to edit the registry file and get rid of the upper and lower registry values once you do this save and reboot the machine it is just like a new drive was installed worked on all of theres one however came back to me twice and it turned out it was a conflict with other installed hardware. Hope this helps If you simply go to google.com and type clear upper lower registry values and the name and model of you drive as above it usually gives you a step by step and happy computing. powersource is good.motherboard might be the problem.harddrive can be tested by putting it in
another computer and see if it boot up.to test the mother board unhook the cd drives and harddrive.turn
on the computer and see if the gateway logo comes on.if it still does the the samething with everything unhooked
then it might be the bios.you might have to flash the bios and reinstall it.to do this i recommend you take it to a
shop.if the comp runs with everything still unpluged and stops then you know that you have a wrong
setting on the harddrive or cd drive.if you got two of anything make sure that you have a slave or master.if you nned me to
write a guide email me at gamecrazy944@yahoo.com or if you got anymore questions.

Compaq presario evo 1015v

sounds like a bad screen this might be able to be remedied by hooking the laptop straight to a computer monitor threw the ports provided in the back
also you could have bumped something loose inside like a video card if any cards or memmory comes loose this will give you black screen of death the laptop will have to opened and cards pressed down gently
theres the solution of your power supply on the laptop went out and you need a replacement
if power supply went out it doesnt hurt your comp it just makes it hard to run

Emachines problem... PSU works but comp doesnt turn on

Hi, Did you just add the second CD? If you did you may need the driver for the mother board? Make sure the power cord for the cd has voltage plug it into the DVD drive also check the cable make sure red stripe is on the correct side of drive. You can download the driver at http://www.emachines.com/support/product_support.html?cat=Desktops&subcat=T-Series&model=T2672 User guide is there as well. The start button has a pair of wires with a small pin connector on it. This will connect to the motherboard if there is a 3 pin set you might try moving to the other pin. The new power supply also has to provide a start voltage? Your power supply may not be compatible or it may put the voltage on the third pin.
