I took 11 pictures then suddenly a flashing H appeared, and I cannot get rid of it. Can this be fixed? Can pictures already taken be saved? They were for a newspaper and involved children, teachers,...

For the price of the repair from a camera shop, it would be cheaper to buy a new camera,

This camera is less that £100, so to get the problem looked at by a shop would cost more than it is worth,
This would be a false economy. and it could faulter again in 3 weeks time.

You could take the camera to a shop and they would be able to get the pictures off for you, for a fee.

Spending £50 to get the pic's back, seems sensible to me.

But to spend another £50 to £100 to get the camera repaired, in my eyes is wasting money.

You might aswel get the pictures off the camera, and buy a new camera.

This is the best solution, from my point of view.

Hope this helps you decide

Can't load film into vivitar pZ 8000 camera?

Most probably find a Vivitar Vivicam PZ8000 manual here. Just send them a search request. Service is not free, but often worthy.

Camera goes into Shut Down Mode & Flashes the Letter H

Hey sonax,
This H error message means either the film is loaded incorrectly, or there is an internal malfunction in the camera. To determine if the film is loaded incorrectly you should take the film and the batteries out of the camera then reinstall the batteries and try taking a picture without film in the camera. If the camera allows it then the film was loaded incorrectly and I would refer to the camera manual for directions on how to load the film correctly. If the H error message persists then there is most likely an internal malfunction and I would have the camera looked at by an authorized service technician. I hope this helps!

There are two conditions under which a blinking "H" will appear in the
LCD panel: (1) when the film has been loaded incorrectly or (2) when the
camera's self-test process detects an internal malfunction. If a
blinking "H" indication appears, perform the following operations in
attempt to resolve the situation:

1. Rewind and remove the film using the rewind button, then remove the
battery to clear the memory.

2. Clean the contacts at the base of the battery compartment with a
clean pencil eraser to ensure proper contact between the camera and

3. Replace the battery, power the camera back up1.gif and operate it as if
it had film loaded, pressing the shutter release.

Loaded film, but won't work and a "3" is flashing.

The IQ Zoom cameras are designed to display error codes (E0, E2, E9, E10, E1A, E37, E90, HL, H4, H5, etc.) when something goes wrong internally with one of the mechanisms or electronic components. These diagnostic displays help to determine where the problem is. When you see an error code, ask a qualified PENTAX repair technician to examine the camera. For information on a specific error code, call Pentax customer service department toll-free at 1-800-877-0155, Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:30pm, Mountain Standard Time.
