The printwheel may not snapped in properly and going to it's home
Keep trying..it will spin to its home position when installed properly,
providing its not broken or bent. The slashes are caused from the happer not lining up with a letter. The other problem may be the ribbon
may have a bind in it or be out of ribbon. There is a wheel or hole on
the ribbon to mover to tightened it up. try that
