Predictive Text on Samsung D900

You can enter text in two different ways: the traditional text
input indicated by , or predictive text input (built-in
dictionary) indicated by .
To use traditional text input, press the key marked with the
letter that you want repeatedly until the letter appears.
To turn on predictive text input when writing text, select
Options > Dictionary and the desired language; to turn it off,
select Options > Dictionary off.
To use predictive text input, do the following:
1. To enter the word you want, press each key once for a
single letter.
2. If the displayed word is the one you want, press 0, and
start writing the next word.
To change the word, press * repeatedly until the word you
want appears.

If ? is displayed after the word, the word is not in the
dictionary. To add the word to the dictionary, select Spell,
enter the word (using traditional text input), and select OK.
Tips for writing text with traditional and predictive text input:
• To add a space, press 0.
• To quickly change the text input method when writing
text, press # repeatedly and check the indicator at the top
of the display.
• To add a number, press and hold the desired number key.
• To get a list of special characters when using traditional
text input, press *; when using predictive text input, press
and hold *.

Press the Centre key
Scroll to Messages, press "Select"
Scroll to Create message, press "Select"
Scroll to the text input field, press "Options"
Scroll to Predictive text on or Predictive text off, press "Select".

It would be a lot easier to tell you how if you posted the brand and/or model of your phone. As for Nokia phones, just press the asterisk/star (*) button repeatedly until the right word is achieved. For other brands, it's either 1, *, 0 or # button. Definitely not the one used as space key.

finnally i got it , the link above is the users guide , and on page 30 is shows - hold the * (star button) to switch between T9 and normal text . hope that helps out .

well my phone is D900 and to turn it off predicted i just hold on the star at the bottom and it changes

Go into a message like you are typing a new one. On the left or right soft key, they should be "options" - select that. When in the options menu, look for "typing options", "writing options", or something related to the dictionary. It is in there that you should be able to turn the dictionary on or off, which enables or disables predictive text.

when on predictive text if you want to change a word just click the "0" button (one with the Cross sign) this will cycle though the different words for you

Hi there, got the answer for your second problem , you can change the word you have wrote by pressing the 0 button!

it is the same key as to change case. If you press it repeatedly, it'll cycle through various options in the top right of the screen:
initial caps with predictive,
all caps predictive,
lower case predictive,
numbers,
initial caps without predictive,
all caps without predictive,
lower case without predictive.

When T9 is not displayed, predictive text is off.

Just to spice things up, Samsung's idiotic software designers made it so that depending on the situation you're inputting text, the order that things cycle through is different, so you can't just press it a certain number of times to turn it off, you have to pay attention to the icon in the top right.
