Re: green light blinks and player will not play dvd or...

Take it to any repair shop and have them llik it over. It probaly has something stuck in the cassette area. th repair may cost $20 to $50, most of that is what the public calls a "walk in the door fee." If your comfortable doing it yourself just take the lid off and remove whatever looks like it doesn't belong there, like pet hair or something a child could have stuck there, ie a toy or a pen. Hope this helps.

The cst in light keeps blinking how to turn it off

I managed to find a PDF manual for your VCR Combo, However i couldnt find anything to indicate a reason for the Cst in light flashing. I did find however find that the TIMER REC Light flashes if T-SET is pressed for a timer recording, but there is no tape in the DVD/VCR. It also flashes when all timer recordings or One-Touch Recordings are finished. So possibly this could be the light you see flashing.

The PDF can be found Here

Hope this helps

Vcr tape doesn't show on screen when playing

Hi there,

If the picture from the DVD shows on the screen, but the pictire from the VCR does not, it is most likely because you are using sockets on the back of the player that are exclusively for the output from the DVD.

Please review your connections in relation to the diagram below. If the cables from the player to the TV are only in the red box, you will not get any picture from the VCR. You will need to move the connections to the sockets in the green box or add a separate connection for the VCR using the sockets in the green box. Whether or not this is possible depends on what input sockets are available on your TV.

You will notice the heading above the red box says "DVD". This means the connections in this section can only be used for DVD. The heading above the green box says "DVD/VCR" meaning the connections here can be used for both.

There are a fews ways to set this up. To get the best picture quality from DVD, you should continue using any connections you may have in the red box and add another cable from the green box to the TV for the VCR. You will also need to select different INPUTS on the TV depending on whether you want to watch DVD or VCR if you are using 2 cables.

I suspect this will be the cause of your problem. If you need any further explanation or assistance, please reply to me by clicking on "Add a Comment" below your question. If you would like me to draw a connection diagram between the DVD/VCR and your TV, please let me know the brand and model number of your TV.

Hope this helps.

I put a vhs tape in an the vcr turns off by it self a green light keeps flashing by where it says cst in. I have a Hitachi DVD/VCR COMBO DV-PF2U. I also can not get the tape out

Unplug the power supply for thirty seconds and plug back in, this will reset the processor and might eject the tape. If this fails the next step is remove the top of the combo unit this will give access to the vcr tape, if the tape is spewed in the machine and wrapped around the video head and other mechanical parts use scissors to cut the tape and carefully removing the particles, press power to eject the tape for normal operation. However! if the vcr tape is okay, there may be a loading problem, broken drive belt, bad idler assembly to name a few, this is where a technician will be needed but may not justify cost.

The function on my dvd/vcr is blinking and because of it, i can't work my dvd/vcr. What can i do to fix the problem?

I had the same problem. We watched a DVD, and the unit worked fine. We went out for ice cream, came back, and decided to watch a VHS. Instead of taking the VHS, the CST.IN light flashed and the unit cut off after a few seconds. We didn't have a VHS in the unit at the time. After cutting the unit back on several times without success, I looked online for solutions. One person said to hit 'eject' 5 times in a row, but that didn't work for my unit. Someone else said there was a lever inside near the power button that ejected the VHS, so I checked that out next. I washed and dryed my hands well, and used my finger to jiggle the white lever. Then I saw that the tray that the VHS sits on wasn't all the way forward, so I gently pulled and pushed it. I'm not sure which of the two actions worked, but my light is now a steady green and my unit is working fine now. I am so glad because we've had this unit for almost 10 years now, and I really didn't want to have to buy a new one!

Only dvd plays properly but vhs will not show picture.

Most likely you have the dvd part connected through component or svideo cables. Despite the fact that this is one unit, like other vcr/dvd combo units it acts as two separate units in the same box. The vcr will probably not play through those cables. As you have audio coming through I'd imagine that the audio is connected using red and white composite cable. Connect the video on the vcr side with composite yellow cable or run direct to tv with a coaxial cable.

CST In light is flashing green

I had the same problem. Aren't three-year-olds great? Mine had jammed several clothing tags into the VCR slot. Clearing them out didn't solve the problem, but I then took the outer case off (with power disconnected of course) and verified that there was no physical damage to the tape heads and that everything internally was clear. I put the case back on, and everything's back to normal.

CST.IN Light

Put a tape in and eject it. It will then work. Just had this problem. CST IN means the VCR thinks it has a tape in. Trust me... Very fixable.

That's not uncommon. One side fails, the other side can't play. You need to get the tape out and make sure that if you break the tape that there are no pieces stuck int he mechanism. You may need to crack it open to get to the inside to remove any broken tape. Be VERY careful around the heads. Blow it out and use a good head cleaner to clean the heads. Then see if there's a reset procedure or simply unplug it for awhile.
