Question about Dell 926 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Have 926 All-In-One. Paper jams as it enters printer. No apparent obstructions. Used new single sheet of paper. Any way to get into the unit to check further? I work as a tech and am comfortable around hardware.

Hi : 

possible u have a carrier jam which cause the paper to skew.  
-open the front cover and check if the cart is struck @ a corner 
---if so then gently pull it over to the centre .and restart the printer ,

--also check from any broken strip inside the printer 
--see if u can find the roller inside the feeder tray to be at the centre , 

-make sure the papers u use dont have dog ears . 
if u printer is in warranty call 8006249896 and get a replacment from dell .

A single sheet of paper has jamed, can not release it.


Clearing a paper jam

If the paper jams in the printer, follow the steps below to clear the jam:

Remove the paper stack from both paper trays.

Press the POWER button. Instead of turning off, the printer will try to eject the jammed sheet.

If the printer cannot eject the paper, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.

NOTE: Do not press the POWER button again before unplugging the power cord.


Open the rear access door at the back of the printer. To do this, press the handle to the right and then pull out the door.

Remove the jammed paper. Make sure no small pieces or obstructions remain.

Reattach the rear access door and plug the power cord back into the printer.

The printer will turn on automatically and be ready for printing again.

Reload the paper in the IN tray.

Try printing again.

I keep getting paper jams. Even if I put one sheet of paper in at a time, the paper keeps jamming and won't print.

I live in the mid west - during our significantly humid days my 926 wouldn't pull in any paper. I tried a lot of home grown techniques but none worked. I finally raised the air temp in my office which tended to dry out the paper and that worked. Of course your problem could be a broken gear or a worn out feed tire - also something stuck in the printer.

Paper feeds crooked then jams?Used less paper different paper it just pulls the paper in unevenly the jams. Help


Check feed roller for contamination, fan the paper to seperate sheets and then make sure that you are using paper of the following standard:
Paper Type Thickness Weight Single sheets
(plain paper) 0.003 to 0.004 inch
(0.08 to 0.11 mm) 17 to 24 lb
(64 to 90 g/m²)

Make sure you are using paper supports and feed guides.

Will not feed paper of any size. No jams ever.


clean the feed rollers with water and soft cloth.. try a stack of paper not a single loose sheet

locate and slowly pull out the stuck paper, perform the following steps:
1. Turn off the printer.
2. Open the printer cover.
3. Locate the stuck paper.
4. Remove the paper.
5. Close the printer cover.

Locate and Remove Any Obstructions Inside the Printer and Input Tray
1. Open the front cover and make sure the kickstand (if there is one) is engaged.
2. Locate and remove any obstructions within the printer, such as paper pieces, staples, tape, or other objects.

4. Remove all paper from the input tray.
5. Inspect the input tray for any obstructions.
6. Remove any visible obstructions.
7. Reinsert the paper.

Extend the front paper support on the printer.

Try a Different Piece of Paper in the Printer
1. Take the top 10 sheets off of the **** of paper.
2. Verify that the remaining sheets of the **** are not wrinkled or dirty.
3. Replace the remaining part of the **** back in the printer.

Reseat the Dell Printer Power Adapter.
If your printer has a momentary loss of communication with your computer, it may be necessary to reset the printer to re-establish communication. You can reset a printer by unplugging the printer power cord from the electrical outlet and from the back of the printer for 10 seconds then reattaching the cord at both ends.

Try a Different Type of Print Media
Many image quality and paper feed issues are caused by the type of print media being used.
Try a different type of print media that is specifically made for this printer.
When there is no different print media available, take out the top half of the stack and flip it over.

Try holding the printer upside down and shake it moderately
Make sure you remove all the cables from printer before performing it

Check with manufacturer if printer is still covered under warranty...
If yes then get it replaced.....or else get a new printer

Paper jams only while duplexing


Back door broken, diverter gate broken?
I would look for something like this. did the tech clean the duplexers tires??

I would also try a different duplexer if possible-paper path sensor may be dirty or obstructed
