Fixing your problem could be as simple as cleaning the battery contacts in the camera, or the solution could be a lot more complex and expensive. Here's a link to the Kodak Help Center - it provides a simple Q&A format to diagnose the problem and propose a solution.

The camerea will only stay on for about a second even after being recharged or replacing the rechargable batteries. This happens in any mode.

Try a fresh set of alkaline batteries to make sure your rechargeable batteries are not the problem. If it is still an issue sounds like it is time for an upgrade to a new camera.

It's been sittting for quite a whils with the battery out. With a freshly-charged battery, it won't start up now, pressing and hlding buttons gets only a second of display.

Insert freshly charged batteries, Turn camera "ON" then remove batteries. While batteries removed, press and hold the shutter button for about 30 seconds. Insert batteries, turn "ON" then press the reset button on the bottom of the camera.

Even with new batteries, the camera turns off after a few seconds

Be sure you have real fresh Alkaline batteries or fresh recharched NiMh batteries.
The best rechargeable batteries are the ENELOOP (from Sanyo), these have a very, very low discharge, so after a week the camera still works without the problem of turning off after a few seconds.

Back screen will not show anything

try to do this.

1. Turn the camera off.
2. Take out the batteries and wait about 10 seconds.
3. Replace the batteries with new or freshly charged batteries.
4. Remove the memory card from the camera.
5. Turn the camera back on.

If this does resolve the issue, you will need to send the camera in for repair. go to www.kodak.com/go/itg to set up repair

DSC-F707 camera cuts off after 10 second , just bought a new battery.

I also bought an aftermarket battery for my F707 on Ebay and got the same "for info...." message.
I contacted the seller and they sent me a new one and it worked, don't see a way around it.

Won't stay turned on!

IF YOU GO IN TO YOUR CAMERAS MENU AND OPTIONS YOU WILL FIND A SETTING FOR THAT. EITHER UNDER POWER SAVER OR MAIN CAMERA OPTIONS AND SETTINGS. I HAD TO CHANGE MY DELAY TIME TO MAX. ALL CAMERAS NOW HAVE A TIME DELAY BEFORE POWERING OFF TO SAVE YOUR BATTERIES. ITS A GOOD IDEA IF YOU ACCIDENTLY SET YOUR CAMERA DOWN AND FORGET. BUT IT IS A PAIN WHEN IT COMES SET FOR 5 SECONDS. HOPE THATS ALL IT IS

The recycle time using flash gets worse pretty quickly if you are using the onboard flash. The delay is pretty much inversly proportional to the remaining charge in the battery. I.E. the less charge, the longer the time. This happens with any camera. You might check the time with fresh batteries (or freshly charged) and then after maybe 20 shots or so. I would not find 5 seconds atypical, but 10 seconds sounds like you are pretty close to dead battery. If you get 10 seconds at the start of a fresh battery, then you may have a problem. Also, capacitor charge time can vary from capacitor to capacitor and a 1-2 second variation between camera flash units, either onboard or off board is probably normal. Age of capacitor can also have an effect.
