Frigidaire front loader won't spin

Hi - I have a Frigidaire front loader GLTF1040AS0 that wouldn't spin. I found the two stabilizer shocks broken so I changed hoping it would solve my problem, but no luck. Any help greatly appreciated.

if the motor isn't running - check (with a multimeter) at the motor leads for voltage.
    220vAC

If there is no voltage at the motor when you press start - your controller board may be at fault.

    or without power (safer)
Disconnect the motor's two wire leads from the
wiring harness. Set your multimeter to the R x 1 setting. Touch each of the
meter's probes to one terminal each. Your motor should show little resistance (a
reading of zero, or close to zero).

Now check the ground connection. Place one probe on
the bare metal housing of the motor. Place the other probe on each terminal, one
at a time. You should not receive any reading on your meter from this test.

If your dryer's motor fails either of these tests,
you will have to replace it.

If the machine does not spin at all, test the motor, and check the lid switch. also ensure that door switch is working.

Here all diagrams and parts for your model.

Frigidaire gltf1670a front load washer not agitating or spinning. Can my broken shocks have anything to do with that?

Your broken shocks could have disconnected some wires due to the vibration. Plug off the wall, open up the machine to examine. In the process you have to change the shocks. Disconnect and refit each terminal, especially the connector to the motor.

Click if helped.

Front Loader Model #FWT449G5S00 banging on spin cycle. One bottem shock snapped replaced with new shock kit (twice) still bangs. At first I thought bang ( out of balance problem) was because of the broken...

The bearings on the drum may be going bad or the counter weight may be broken off or missing or heavy unbalanced loads. Reach inside and try lifting up on the interior drum. If it moves up and down or you feel any popping I would say the bearings are going bad. They usually make a lot more noise on the spin cycle also. Similar to an airplane taking off.
Hope this helps.

My front loading washer will not give a high speed spin out. It shuts off at the 7 minute mark

There are two things you can look at that are common problems for this type of model. One is on older Frigidaire front loaders the shock absorbers tended to break, you can remove the front panel and view both shocks, look for a end of the shock broke off. Second is check the trap for the water pump, have a towel for the water. The replacement shocks are better........and most front loaders will not spin if the pressure switch is not open(water pumped out) The remaining problems are electrical, reconnect your connectors on the electrical harness and board or timer, figure out tech sheet or call the service company......(unplug when doing any service)
hope this help

My maytag washer is very loud during the spin cycle it sounds like an airport. ALso it is now giving and E3 code when in spin cycle.

My washer did that, a very similar front loader also. Investigation turn up broken shock absorbers that stabilize the tub, Remove the front panel under the front door and look in there. On each side there is a little shock that holds the tub stable. They looked good at first, but when I moved the tub around I could see that the loop on the end was broken off where the pin fastened the shock to the base. Replacement was not that hard but aggrivating to get to and get leverage to install the pins.
Do a search for "appliance parts" and you can order right on line. Checkout a number of sites as the prices vary a lot...
The replacements were heavier than the originals, so you will be better off after replacement.

Thanks for using Fixya!!

Washer won't spin at high speed....makes loud clunking noises

You probably have a broken shock on your washer. The front loaders have two shocks on them to stabilize the drum when it spins. Over loading the machine will cause these to break. Luckily they aren't too much to replace, only around 30 dollars each. They are quite a pain though to change out. When you remove the back panel of the washer you will see the shocks. Most likely you have one broke, maybe both though. Don't use it though until you get them changed out. It will just do more damage to the washer. If you have any other questions let me know and let me know if this was helpful to you. Good luck and I am glad that I could help you.

Broken stabilizer on Frigidaire front loader

IF it is the bottom stablizer it can be changed easily. But if it damaged the others or sub frame it could get costly.
