Re: 42HDS69 cable input is only thing working

You need the original remote controller to be able to switch input modes.Universal ones usually don't work. If youdon't have the original remote and can't find it ever then the only way to reachyour tv is through coaxial antenna port. Soyou can buy an rf modulator ( very cheap) and connect your red yellowand white cables (rca cables from a dvd, game consoleetc) to the modulator then connect the modulator to your antenna with acoax cable. This worked for me. It placed the connection to channel 4and other channels are still working,

You can buy the RF Modulator from:

I have a Sharp TV model LC-32SB24U. I cannot access the menu screen because I lost the remote control. Is there another way I can change channels without a remote?

The Sharp LC-32SB24U has menu, input, volume up/down and channel up/down buttons on the top of the TV. When you access the Menu using the buttons on the TV, the Input button is the same as the Enter key. The volume up/down buttons map to the left and right arrows. The channel up/down buttons remain up and down. The Menu button is the closest to the power button (on the right). The volume buttons are the ones on the left.

Make sure that the input is set to TV to change channels. Then you need to program the available channels, access the Menu and navigate to Setup (left/right arrows). Press Input to enter this sub-menu. Then use the Up/Down arrows to select CH Setup. Press Input again to enter. Now you can set the channel source and let the TV scan for channels that have a strong enough OTA signal or are unencrypted cable channels. These are the top two options in the Channel Setup menu. The details are available in the manual which is available here: . For OTA channels, you may need to check the signal strength under the Antenna Setup - Digital option in this Setup menu. OTA Digital signals will not be tuned in if the signal strength is low. It's an all-or-none tuning; amplifiers and external antennas may help. See for details of transmitters and the recommended antenna for your area. (Warning: damaged amplifiers can become filters and block the signal on some channels. Replace the amplifier if it is damaged.)

If you look to replace your original remote with a universal remote, you'll need one that was programmed more than 6 months after the TV was released. That may be 12/2005 based on the manual copyright date. Look for a remote that has a Menu and Input or Source button and check all of the codes to find one that matches all of the features on your original remote. Amazon has an OEM remote for the LC-32SB24U; also has a replacement remote available that has been programmed for the TV. (On, search for the LC32SB24U.)

I hope this helps.

Original remote lost. have universal remote. cannot program TV

On the right hand side of this television there are panel buttons. It appears that your son in law knocked the tv out of the correct input. Press the input button in order to cycle through the 5 inputs. Typically pressing the input button on the side panel of a television and pressing it again and again and again will make it change inputs. Universally the buttons on the tv panel function as follows: Channel up moves the cursor up. Channel down moves the cursor down. Volume + moves the cursor right. Volume - moves the cursor left.
Hope this helps

Hitachi ultravision model number 42hds69 cable problem.

Usually you need a decoder to receive "Cable" With your "Cable" usually you connect the Cable antenna, to the Cable "Box" form the "Box" to the Audio Visual EXTERNAL inputs, in the back of the TV. Now IF your TV can receive the "Cable" directly, then you would have to connect the Antenna, into the rear of the TV, now you would go to the "Tuning" section, and, the TV, would automatically "Search" for any available channels. They would then, be displayed at the end of the scan. Please find a user manual below, this will help you tune in, IF you can. If you cannot, you will have to get a cab;e "Box" and a remote. Hookup to the TV, from the "Box" to the TV, via, Audio and Video cables. You use the "Box's" remote to change channels and volume. You first must set the TV's Volume, & picture setting, the TV, is basically just used as a "Monitor" for the "Box". Hope this helps..

Need remote codes for emerson lc320em9 so can program cable remot

If you only wish to power the TV off/on with the remote, there is an alternative. Plug the TV into the outlet on the back of the Comcast box. In the Setup Menu for the Comcast box there is an option to make the outlet switched or unswitched. Select SWITCHED then the TV will turn on/off with the Comcast box. The
LC320em9 will maintain the previously selected input.

How does one change the video inputs without the remote control?

If you have lost the remote, go to any electronics store and buy a universal one. I have programmed many generic remote controls, and they all work fine for adjusting the video inputs. Not all television sets allow their video inputs to be switched without the remote. Most likely you will have to buy a replacement.

Dvd wont work.

First, is the DVD player output (Video out, audio out) connected to the TV input? Have you used the Yellow cable from  DVD video out to the TV video in? Mixing the audio and video cables will result in no signal. Have you selected the proper input with your TV remote control. Most plasmas accept a variety of input signals; you must select the right one. I deal with a number of these issues. Usually the connections are made improperly or the correct input source is not selected with the TV remote. Put a DVD in the player and press play. Be sure you have made the proper connection from DVD player video/audio out into an auxiliary or video input on the TV. These could be labeled Line 1 or Line 2.  With the DVD playing, run through the input options on your remote control. The button might be marked source, video or input. The screen should display your choices i.e. video 1, video 2, etc. When you see your DVD program, you've got the right combination.

Accessing External Inputs Settings

you have to use the remote control for the tv not the dvr.
the dvr control likely cannot control the tv inputs programming unless you can program the correct code. and most new lcd panels don't have the correct codes for existing remotes
access using ext on the tv remote.
you may have to go into the menu and tell the tv what the ext is set to ie.. a channel or a input.
