Connect your player to the pc that has the Philips device manager running, then reset the player by holding the off-switch and the volume-+ (plus) switch.
If it will still not start as it should, repeat the reset, and as soon as the player shuts off, press and hold the volume- - (minus) switch. The Philips device manager will recognize the player now, and recommend a repair, do so.

Player memory is showing as full but can't find any files

I'd say, either (on the sync tab) right mouse click it and choose the refresh option. If that dosn't work; try to used Winamp instead.

Ignore Mr. tonto...he'll get banned soon enough.

The player has malfunctioned badly and is beyond repair. Take it back to Best Buy and they will fix or replace it as a good faith gesture.

Happy tunes!

Gogear froze

Back up your files on the device, if possible and then perform a Repair (warning: this will delete all files from your GoGear):
Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new.

You will now be able to load the firmware upgrade that makes it compatible with Vista.
open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips) - if you don't see it, then re-run the installation CD or grab the "Device/Firmware Manager" from the Philips website; click on the Update tab. The Firmware upgrade will take place automatically, and should resolve the issues you have been having.

Sync with windows media player

I have the same issue where my pc won't recognise my mp3, or only occassionally does, and then locks up. The problem with media player is it eats up so much memory while trying to synch files / delete / add etc and brings your pc to a grinding halt. So the solution I'm told is the MS Synch Tool, download off MS site and use it rather than the player to switch your files. I'm trying it now.
