Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console

1 Answer

Ps3 won't save and erases saved data when accessing it

When I turn on the ps3 a red screen pops up that says, "A serious problem has occurred. Contact technical support for assistance." Also, it won't save and if we try to load previously saved data, it erases it.

I put in the game Gran Turismo 5 into my PS3 and instead of loading in the game the screen pops up and says (Accessing game data. Please do not switch off the system while the HDD access indicator is...

This means it's loading your Game Data. There's nothing wrong with this appearing on the screen, it's common and simply indicates that it's loading your last saved state.
If it's stuck on that for a long period of time and not taking you into the game, then you need to go into the Saved Data Utility on your PS3 and delete your saved data file for Gran Turismo 5. Something might be corrupt.
Gran Turismo 5 uses a lot of the PS3's power, so having longer than average load times doesn't mean something is wrong with your PS3.

When I turn my ps3 on it goes straight on to a red page and says a serious error has occured contact technical support for assistance in different languages. What shall I do?

Dear, before you get in touch with Sony technical support you may want to try to use the PS3 recovery options.
The PS3 stores a copy of firmware drivers on the hard-drive and will reload any corrupt files. To access the recovery menu, do this:
  1. Make sure the PS3 is turned off
  2. Press and hold the power button on the PS3 it will power on then power off.
  3. When it's off press and hold the power button again until you hear two consecutive beeps. When you hear the double beeps immediately take your finger off the power button (if your system turns off before you get a double beep just try again and hold the button, it should double beep the 2nd time you try)
  4. It will ask for the controller to be connected via the USB cable,
  5. Turn on the controller and you will have access to the menu.
Be aware that you might lose all of your previously saved data.
Thank you for using Fixya and for rating my solution if you find it helpful.

Playstation 3 (PS3) Console: red screen saying Serious Error has Occurred...

Well, of course you should first try unplugging, replugging, turning it off on the backside button, turning it back off, holding the on/off button 3-4 seconds while it is on, and so on.

If neither of all these things work, there might be corrupted data or you might need a firmware update (hate those on mp3's, then how is it on ps3's? >.<).

But for those, you would need to contact customer support, as it says on your red screen message.

Customer support:
Choose your language and then go for support
http://www.playstation.com/country-selector/

If you cannot find the customer support on your region (which I highly doubt), just go for the customer support of Sony: http://esupport.sony.com/

Hope this helped

Hi whilst playing fifa 10 on my ps3 i turned it off and it didn't say it was autosaving, it deleted that file and now i can't save a new file on my fifa 10 and on viewing save files on the system it says...

there might be no space on the memory card, Take the game out and load up the playstation then if the page is full then you have no room left, it happend to me. After that all you have got to do is delete some stuff, if you dont want to then buy another memory card and put it in slot 2.

Red screen: "a serious error has occured"

This is called the "PS3 Red Screen Of Death" it's the same as the 360's RROD. The best solution would be to contact Sony about it and they should resolve the issue.
