Question about Typewriters

1 Answer

Printer drivers I have a Wheelwriter III that we used to use as a printer. I like the way it prints and would like to use it again as a printer. Can you help me find a printer driver for this. I am now running on XP, however, I still have a machine that runs on WIN98. If I can not get the printer to run on XP then I can transfer the documents to the 98 unit and print them out there. Also I have an HP Lazerjet 4 that I would also like to have a driver for. Both machines if possible. Thanks so much in advance for trying to help me. I would really like to get both of these printers working and I hope you can help. Thanks again,

Re: printer drivers

IBM has a printer driver for the WW3 on XP. Just go to and search under support/downloads/drivers. The same is true for HP at

I emailed you more precise URL's.

Where is the solenoid cap on the wheelwriter III? One comment above replaced the cap and the hammer now works.

The solenoid cap is on the rear of the solenoid which is below the ribbon deck just inside the L. side frame of the printer, look below the blue rubber damper. We sell the cap including shipping and instructions for 20.00

Wheelwriter III appears to be set on a "stencil" setting.

Is it not printing at all or will it print on carbons and not originals?

If it dosen't print on carbons the print solenoid cap is probably broken. If it prints on carbons the big black gear on the R. side of the printer may be jammed tooth for tooth try wiggling it to free it up. If it needs the cap we sell them for 20.00 including shipping and instructions.

First a WW3 has to have the printer option. If it does a generic daisy wheel printer driver will usually work.
