There are several numbers on the bottom of the iron box but none specially saying serial number. All the numbers are:WWSR1; 990810 (also on the power cord); E142249

The iron in question is not a regular steam iron; I stated it is a Power Pro Steam Station; the iron sets on the water tank; there is no hole in the front of the iron!; there is a large clear tank in the base of the station and a filter of some sort in the tank; I am not willing to try the iron because it may have been a recalled item or I may ruin it in the effort; please do more research. thanks, Barbara Champaign

Sorry, my computer will not let me paste the manual to Contacts nor will it let me open the manual; help if you can. thanks, barbara

I wish I could take a picture of this iron and send it to you; it says "Power Pro Steam Station"; all the numbers on the bottom of the station are: WWSR1; 990818; Steam Station 75MA; E142249. The iron sets on the station which has a transparant water tank in the front. All the info available does not show a White-Westinghouse iron.

The little how in the top is for adding water to make steam. Buy 'distilled' water only, or it will get plugged up with scale. Pour a little water in, not too much, then turn the control dial to the appropriate setting for the type of fabric your using. If you can give me the model number and manufacturer make of the iron I can send you the manual if you want?

The basic operation of the iron shouldn't be too hard. Most of the steam irons have the filling opening at the front of the iron. On the side of the tank should be markings to let you know how much water to pour in. If possible you should use distilled water especially if your tap water has a lot of minerals. They can clog up and ruin the iron's steam vents. If you do use tap water make sure you empty out any water left in the tank.

There should also be a control slider that would show you where to set it depending on the type of material. Some materials need a lot more heat because the are thicker or more dense. Permanent Press items do no need as much heat.

Hopefully this information will help you to get the most out of your iron.

No steam coming throwc

Normally when water is put inside steam irons, it get stored in tank then if thermostat knob is set for steam then water moves to bottom heated portion of iron. Water converts to steam as base plate is hot, heated steam comes out through perforated holes. If holes are blocked due to scale formation steam flow is blocked. The descaling has to be done as per instructions given on descaling wax manufacturer. sometimes if water does not enter through a rubber washer that is water tank to heated bottom portion then also steam will not get generated hence no steam. Please check above points and identify the problem.

What could be stopping the water in the holding tank not going in the steam tank on my Perfect Care Iron ?

most likely is mineral build up. drain out the water and replace with white vinegar, warm up the iron and allow it to sit until you see steam (several minutes to half an hour) if no steam, replace the iron.

My Tefal iron stop steam GV 8150

Hello :

1: Make sure there's enough water in the tank if the iron won't steam. Fill the tank up .
2:Check that the iron is set to a steam setting. Some of the settings are dry and won't create steam.
3:Set the temperature dial to the shaded setting which represents steam. You'll see a little dark cloud-type icon with raindrops as opposed to a white cloud with a stripe through it. The dark cloud represents moisture (steam), and the white cloud with the stripe through it represents no steam.
4:Allow the iron to heat up for a while and to emit steam for a couple of minutes while pressing the extra-long burst button a few times. That should get rid of any impurities which can cause blockages. Try this if the iron hasn't been used for a while and steaming is intermittent.
5:Iron horizontally. Steam is only generated when the iron is horizontal.
6:Use the maximum steam setting when the iron is set to its maximum temperature setting.
7:Let the iron get to a high temperature before expecting steam. If the soleplate isn't hot enough, the water won't turn to steam and will in fact drip, spit or leak from the soleplate. Some Rowenta irons have an anti-drip system, which will turn off the steam when ironing at a low temperatures. Turn the temperature up, if needed.

Won't steam

The steam irons I have see have a separate button to allow water from the reservoir to enter the steam chamber. This button latches down for steam and you unlatch it for dry. Also, there is a temperature range on the temp dial for steam.

The reservoir must have water in it for the iron to make steam. If calcium from the water has built up on the reservoir valve, it may prevent the water from entering the steam chamber. Straight white vinegar instead of water may help.

No Steam

Your iron will only steam when it has reached the desired tempeture. When the yellow/orange light comes on and the dial has been set for cotton or linen it should steam, when you lower the top and push the steam lever
