  • formatting your pc has no direct effect on the connection, install all the drivers including the network LAN adapter (important!!!)
  • try bypass router fisrt to see if ISP is the problem or else call them

It cannot be connect to pc

Check the physical layer first between the PC and the router. Make sure the ethernet cable is plugged in correctly on the port from the router to the port on the PC.

Next check if both devices are turn on, is the router functioning properly? is the pc turned on?

Now check the connection from one end to the other. Did the router work before or is it new? Is there instructions for out-of-the-box setup?

You can check your pc connections by opening a command prompt (start -> run and type cmd) this will open a black terminal in which you can issue the command ipconfig. By default routers will issue your computer a unique address called an IP Address. The format may look similar to 192.168.1.1. Does your PC have this connection? If not, ensure that network card on your pc is functioning and your router can assign addresses.

Can't connect to my wireless router. I'm not using clear. How do I establish connection with wireless router?

Make sure the computer has the correct Security key installed and that the router and computer are using the same format ie.. 802.11 G or N or B. Most likely the Computer will support the G format so the router has to support the N or G format in order to communicate with it.

I have this router that I have hooked up by hardwire to 2 computers & works fine. The problem is my grandson is home from aftganistan with a laptop & he shows a strong signal, but it calls for a...

If you have never set up any password for it then it is normally set as the default password which is written somewhere on the router or else in the manual. Now you can access that password by going into the router settings from any of the 2 pc which is hardwired to the router. You need to know the router ip address which is normally in the format of 192.x.x.x as x representing some whole numbers, this is normally written somewhere on the manual or on the router itself. Once you are in the router settings, then look for wireless set up and change it to a password that you prefer. Hope this helps. Any question please feel free to ask. Remember that changing the password will require a pc hardwired to the router.

Please help! Been trying since Saturday to connect router!

Put the setup CD in a drawer. Set your computer to Obtain a DHCP automatically. Plug in the router to the AC outlet. Plug the computer into any of the LAN ports of the router. Start the computer or do a DHCP renew. Now do an IPCONFIG. Do you have a 192.168.1.x address? Go to IE and use 192.168.1.1 in the address bar. Do you get the login screen? The username is left blamk, the password is "admin". Are you there?

Now, just because I put the cart before the horse, are you possibly using one of those 2wire or Netopia DSL routers? Is it possible that the IP address for it is 192.168.1.254 or worse, 1.1?

Bzzt. Give your router a neat address like 192.168.1.251 and turn off DHCP. Now, plug the WAN port into the modem. and point your browser to 192.168.1.251. Whoa! Did I guess right?

Let me know.

New belkin router f5d7230-4

You have 3 units: PC >cable modem > router.

First turn your PC off . Take the power connectors off the cable modem and the router.

Then, Plug an ethernet cable into the internet cat5 port on the cable modem.
Take the other end of the cable an plug it into the Internet/Wan port on the router (I believe it is green on your router.
Then take another ethernet cable, plug it into any one of the 4 ports on the router.
Take the other end and plug it into your PC.
Plug in the power to the cable modem first. Wait 30 seconds. Then plug in the power to the router.
Again, wait 30 seconds. Then start up your PC.
After the PC boots to your desktop, you should be able to get online.

This procedure will work with cable Internet providers, If you have DSL, your username and password needs to be put into the router's setup.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe
