Question about Symphonic WV806 DVD Player/VCR
The VCR part of my combo works fine, but when I try to record on a dvd, I get a message saying the device cannot record.
I also get the error message using three new disks with different brand names. They all met the requirements in the manual. The service reps gave me three different answers. None worked. Finally, a rep said I had to use a specific disk similar to the one that came with the recorder (speed 8x). The manual said it works best with 2x. After checking the 8x, I learned it can cause many problems - not most importantly, not compatible with most other other players or recorders. I purchased it at Walmart, but am going to try returning it. I bought it 1 1/2 years ago but haven't attempted to use the recorder component till recently - so don't know what will happen. Sorry, to be the bearing of bad news to all of you who got stuck with this lemon.

Check your dvd that may not be a recordable dvd. You have to use either DVD R+, R-, or rewritable RW+/- disk. where did you buy it?
