Re: Over heated

In the handle are a heater, transmission and a circuit board. If you have smoke come out and now it doesn't work, I would suspect the circuit board of being bad. If this is less then 2 years old, then it is still under warranty.

How to Fix Vacuum That Lost Suction
If there's ample suction but the machine won't pick up material, check the hose for blockages. Disconnect the hose from the vacuum cleaner and inspect it for any cracks or holes. If any are found, use duct tape to repair them - it might not look great, but it does the job! Where there's a blockage in the vacuum cleaner, clean it out by pushing a long, thin object like a broom handle through the entire length of thre hose. You can then reconnect the hose and try the vacuum again. It's worth checking the hoses a few times every year for cracks or splits.
If everything else appears to be fine but the vacuum still won't pick up, take a look at the brushes. Turn the vacuum cleaner upside down and clean hair and other material from the brushes, especially at the sides.

Hoover floormate fh40160 won't dispense solution

Hi there! Sometimes it is necessary to prime the trigger to get the solution flowing. Try these quick steps.

1. Recline the handle.
2. Pump the trigger vigorously about 60 times.
3. Power the cleaner on and squeeze the trigger for 60 seconds.

The cleaner should start to dispense the solution. Be sure you are using only the recommended cleaning solution to avoid internal damage. If your Floormate is still not dispensing there could be an issue with your pump. We would recommend taking the cleaner in to a Hoover authorized service center for repair. Follow the link to locate the nearest service center to you. Service Center Locator

Hope this helps!

Hi! Sometimes it is necessary to prime the trigger under the handle to get the solution flowing. To prime the trigger, recline the handle and pump trigger about 60 times. Carpet steamer continually sprays water/cleaner. Can't stop it!

This is a solution for the Bissell Pro Heat, although it may apply to other Bissell steam cleaners as well. This is for the problem of the cleaning solution continually spraying without stop.

I found a quick and simple solution to this problem.

This problem occurs because the valve that allows the solution to flow gets "sticky" and will not close. The valve is engaged by the trigger mechanism in the handle. Squeezing the trigger pushes downward on the valve's plunger, but the spring in the valve that is meant to push the plunger back up to the closed position is not capable of doing so.

Here's the solution:

This valve is white and resides about half way down the vertical handle portion of the cleaner. To get to it, unscrew the 2 black screws that hold the top part of the handle to the bottom part. These are the same screws that you used for assembling the cleaner when you first bought it. Pull the top portion of the handle up and it should slide out.

Now, looking down into the handle body of the remaining portion of the handle, you'll see the top of the white valve. If you push down on the top of the valve (like the trigger mechanism in the top part of the handle you just removed does) it may go down some, but it probably won't go back up by itself like it should.

I found that lubricating this plunger with dish soap was the trick. If you can't get enough access to the valve to do this, you can remove the seven phillips head screws in the lower portion of the handle and pry it apart. I did this. I even took the valve out and put soap around the plunger and into the valve itself. I worked it up and down until it had a quick and positive open/close action.

Reassemble and you should be good to go. You'll notice that the trigger now has a more positive feel to it. I hope this helps.

Take out the 2 long screws with the nuts on them, then furher down just beneath the hose wrap asm, there are 2 more screws to remove. Put the top part of the handle off, lay the handle down, on the front, at the top and in the center is a tab, push it in and pull the top half of the handle away from the bottom half. Then you will see the heater, don't mix up the hoses after you are done.

Scunci steam cleaner not spraying steam

Unscrew the screw on the handle and remove handle. Remove rubber where top screws on. Remove two screws and the top and now unscrew the black pipe where the steam comes out. Now remove the button and see the small metal protrusion on the pot where the button was. Hit it with a hammer a few times softly to remove the scale buildup until the metal starts moving in and out again. I also sprayed it with a little silicone spray. Now put everything back together again. My steamer now works beautifully again!

It uses a cogged belt, check the belt, also check the pulley, if the cogs are worn down, then you will have to replace the pump, the pulley comes with the pump.

Cleaner does not dispense

Check to make sure that the back end of the top housing is tight against the bottom, Sometimes they break loose. Make sure that the gasket at the bottom of the tank is on and is in place. Does the hand spray work? If it does then the heat inside the handle is plugged up. Pump belt broke or is slipping, could have a bad pump. The cap for the flow indictor is leaking air. There are alot off reasons why it may not be spraying.

Cleaner suddenly stopped working

Based on the other solutions I read, I also traced the problem to clogged input/output ports to the heater. I hadn't used the cleaner for about 2 years and the ports were blocked by calcium and mineral deposits. I took the manifold cover off the bottom of the heater and carefully reamed the ports out with a finishing nail. I then cleaned the ports and manifold with Lime-Away to dissolve any other deposits. I put it back together (with no parts left over!) and it works fine.
