The only bad news its going to be hard to get a power supply on-line unless you could search it by the part number that's on that power supply..

Since the manuf. of olevia is out of buss.. this 3rd party repair center is offering to repair olevia televisions since they carry a huge amount of olevia parts.. there number is 866-965-3842 they could give you a repair estimate on the repairs but the only thing is that they don't sell parts they only service the whole television.

Control board replacement

You may want to look at the following components on the circuit board and replace them as necessary. If there appears to be no power to the machine (clock), the machine may have received a power spike from an unclean/fluctuating power source. Look at resistor R5. If it shows any signs of heat damage, replace it. Then look at diode D3, which has been the cause of malfunction on my unit for four times already. Replace this diode (10V, 1.3W) and it should run again. This diode is working like an over-voltage protection fuse (which should have been built into this machine with easy access in the first place!) and since it gets fried so often on my unit I'm planning an illustrated writeup on how to mod the board to make exchanging this diode easier and without disassembling the machine.

Today 12/16/2010 my HDTV 42 in plasma model 42px12x.41. made a "popping" sound in the back of the screen and the screen went black,( yet there is still sound and a couple of green and red light...

PLASMA TVS DONT HAVE INVERTER CIRCUITS. YOU MOST LIKELY HAVE A Y-SUSTAIN BOARD FAILURE. IT IS THE BOARD TO THE LEFT LOOKING FROM THE BACK. THE LARGE ALUMINUM HEAT SINK LOCATED ON THE BOARD AND THE PART SCREWED TO IT WILL BE THE DEFECTIVE PART.

What could be the problem if for the past 3 years your heat pump freezes up during the winter months? A defrost control board has been replaced every year for these past 3 years

Hi,
The defrost board is very easily fried by power surges...
Seems that over the summer the board gets toasted and you have to replace it...
a good commercial surge suppressor may help keep that from happening...

I have a panasonic th-42px80u, i turned it on and there was a pop and a flash from the back of the tv. It will not power up and have no red light. ive taken apart and inspected power supply board for burn...

Look for a fried (possibly exploded) transistor or diode on the power supply board. In particular, look at the transistor mounted on a heat sink (metal radiator block) between the fuse and the largest transformer on the board. It may also have a damaged regulator chip driving it. Modern TV sets operated by remote controls generally have the power supply split into two sections - standby and main. Your problem is most likely in the main section.

A voltage sniffer won't tell you much - most sets have power right up to the fuse on the power supply board. If the fuse is blown, don't bother replacing it until you find out what blew it - you'll just waste another fuse. I generally start by doing ohmmeter checks (power disconnected!) on the diodes and transistors - anything reading less than 1 Ohm is probably fried or is being shorted through a transformer winding by another fried component. Other readings must be interpreted according to the circuit design.

I have a Nordyne heater modle #E2EH-017HA. The heater will heat up but the fan will not turn on. You can turn on the fan manually. Any idea what is wrong?

Some times they use a bi metal switch its silver metal about the sizze of a dime.
or they might have a fan relay on a circuit board a small black rectangular shape device.
Ihave even seen the solder connections break away from the relay pins.

Brookstone Wafer-thin CD with MP3 player circuit failure...why?

sure, ur power amp section is completely shorted. meaning it is totally fried. get it repaired. it was a stupid idea to jump the fuse. u cud fry the whole thing!!! i sincerely hope it is only the power amp. if it is more than that u have only urself to blame. remember looks can be deceptive.

STK IC info

the convergance amplifiers are STK392-570 there are two of them they both must be replaced they are located on the power board. they are on the lagest heat sink on that board. yes, they need to be soldered to the board. they look like this:
70a4bc9.jpgthere also may be some resistors and fuses that failed. if you are not a tech do not attempt this repair if you do you may end up with further issues or dammage to you or the set.

Electric dryer wont heat or turn off

there could be a temperature switch that tripps off. look at the diagram and trace also the power to the timer motor. it seems that you lost your power to your timer motor that is why the timer stays @ what ever setting you set it.
