You can try to power up with the printhead out, that sometimes causes it to not power up. Otherwise that machine is fried since you can't get a replacement logic pcb anymore.

I9900 canon printer: does not show any power when turn on.

General NO POWER troubleshooting:

- Try a different known working power outlet (direct to wall preferred)

- Try a different power cable (may not be possible if the cable is attached to a power brick)

- Does it power on (makes some noise) but no lights display or simple no power at all,
if no power and the first two steps still lead to no power next step would be to replace the power supply and or the power plug connector (depending on the PSU)
if it makes noise when you power up but no lights the printer may still be functional but the control panel is damaged

After a brief power outage during a thunderstorm my canon i9900 will not turn on. I left it un pluged for several hours and then repluged it and still nothing. Everything else in the office works fine.

The power supply of your printer are damage due to the brief power output during the thunderstorm. Just check the fuse inside of the power supply of the printer if they have some burned or else use the Multi Tester to identify that the fuse are damage or needed for replacement.

I cannot get the power button on my Canon i9900 inkjet printer to turn the printer on. It is plugged into an active power source, but when I hit the on button, nothing happens. Does it matter that I have...

The most likely cause is the printhead has gone out. If you can get to it, you need to remove the printhead and try power again. If it comes on you need a new printhead, if you put the old one back in you could destroy the logic PCB.

Canon PIXMA ip4500 will not turn on

Sounds like the power outage was a power surge and destroyed your printer, especially if your printer was not plugged into a power surge protector strip. Check with others in your apartment to see if they experienced the same. If so, your landlord may be responsible and can put in a claim. If your printer is still under warranty, contact Canon. Also, check to see if this item is covered by tenant insurance, if you have coverage. Hope this helps.

Canon I9900 self test

You might be able to initiate the self test by powering it off first. Then, when you power it on, hold the power button down for 5 to 10 seconds continuously. In many cases, that will start the self test to run, But hold the button down for 5 to 10 seconds without letting it up at all, upon turning it on.

Cannon printer quit working suddenly.

Is it possible that the cord came unplugged from the transformer itself instead of the printer or wall plug?
A power outage shouldn't affect it, but a power surge can. Please use surge protection circuits on your computer equipment. It's so much cheaper than repairing or replacing them.
Take it from someone who learned the hard way....
You can try a printer reset. Turn the printer off, unplug the power and data cables from the machine. Wait at least ten minutes to allow the printer cache to be purged.(Canon's recommendation)
Then plug back in and turn on.
I hope this works for you! Good luck!

Dead Printer

hi i am a certified Canon repair tech for this printer. these machines are prone to power faluire due to power surges. this machine uses very low DC voltages so when you have even a small AC power surge the eletrictronics in this printer get over charged and they blow. most of the Canon machines that i have seen with no power have been the main logic board at fault not the power supply. if the machines are under 13 months old they are still covered under warrenty. you can call Canon at 1-800-OK-CANON and they will locate a repair center near you. hope this helps.

Canon i9900 will not power up

There's a new power supply available at http://www.beckscrs.com/partlist.php for $61.20, part #QK1-0311-000 or at http://www.vancebaldwin.com/products/?CAN&start=1601 for $60.70. The original power supply shows part number Canon K30212 on it. If replacing the power supply/adapter doesn't resolve the problem of the Canon i9900 not powering on at all, the part number for the logic board is QM2-1273-000 from Beckscrs.com for $225.

Will not turn on

Very late last night our power went out for about 40 minutes. Today my i9900 will not turn on. This is the second time this happens to my i9900. The first time, I was lucky, it was still in warranty (11 months 2 weeks into it). Now its exactly 1 year 2 weeks later, and the same problem has occurred. I believe the i9900 must have a very sensitive PC board. I have the printer connected to a UPS and nothing else in my home has exhibited a problem. I tried unplugging. Connecting to a different outlet, and interestingly, when you plug the cord, you can hear a very faint click or spark noise. The last time, when Canon sent the replacement, I switched the power supply but that did not fix the problem. It seems the problem is somewhere else. Anyone has an idea on how to fix? Will it require sending to a repair center? If so, any ideas what it will cost? Thanks... cokyq

Power outage=shut down

You do not say your location- so this may not be relevant to you. If in UK - check the power cord fuse. If it is a model that relies on an external power supply- try to find anther of the same specification. Other than that presume it has died
