Question about Coby TF-DVD7100 Portable DVD Player
I recently brought a brand new coby portable dvd player in June of this year. Now it's not working anymore. It keeps saying wrong disc. When I brought it, I thought their was at least a one yr. warranty on it, but, when I contacted the service dept. for the brand. They told me that the warranty is for the remote that comes w/ the dvd player. I know that sounds really stupid :(. Help me, this is my second dvd player I have brought, never dropped it or anything, just use them to look at when I am at work sometimes(only when I can).
I have a studio and sometimes certain disc will play on one device and not on another..If you have already played the disc on the device I would try the clean the head. They sell cleaning kits..The DVD player only recognizes it can't play it..they could have it say (Clean disc) but they want you to buy another one..And it could mean its broke...Who knows...Just do all you can do...And a lot of boot leg disc want work...Not saying you buy them...Just saying to help anyone reading this...Hope this helps

I have a COBY DVD player TF-DVD7005 that hadn't been used in a while. When I charged the battery and the light went from red to green, nothing happens when I push play and the DVD doesn't spin. Could the battery be dead despite the green light and where would I get a new one?

You may need to clean the laser in the unit. You can purchase a cleaning disk at Radio Shack or Best Buy. They are normally less than $20.

I work for Coby technical support. Our customer service phone number is 1-800-727-3592.
Thanks for using FixYa.
First, if you have a receipt, you have a warranty.
If the unit will not play any commercial dvd, unfortunately, the unit has developed a defect and needs to be replaced. It can not be repaired. Our warranty is 90 days from the date of purchase. Also, you may want to call the number above to see if your model qualifies for out of warranty exchange. The cost of the exchange would be $31.
If you feel this solution doesn't deserve a good rating, please let me know why so that I may better assist you. If there is anything more I can do to help, I will!

If it is disc made with a computer, you may need to convert the format to one that the DVD player is compatible with so it will recognize the disc contents.
