Question about Computers & Internet
When I start the computer a message comes up "a problem with the hard drive has been detected. consult the troubleshooting section of your user's manual." "press enter to continue" hit enter then "press F4 to run setup" when you hit F4 nothing happens.
Please make sure the boot device is correct from BIOS.
If correct please boot your system from Windows XP bootable CD and choose recovery option in Command Mode.
run the command
chkdsk /f C:
Check the result and let me know if any error comes.

This error message
- "No bootable device. Insert boot disk and press any key" means -
The PC cannot see a boot file/disk on either the hard
disk or floppy drive.
Check the floppy drive and remove and floppy disk.
If there was no disk in the floppy drive then it is a hard disk problem.
Check the BIOS to see if the hard disk is detected, if not open the case and re-seat the data cable on the hard drive and also where it connects to the motherboard disk controller.
If it still gives this error message and the BIOS does not detect the hard drive, then the hard drive is probably faulty.
A further check on the hard drive, remove the hard drive and connect it to an USB hard drive adapter and connect it to a working computer's USB port, if this computer does not detect it as an external storage device then the hard drive is faulty.
To get the computer working again, install a new hard drive in your computer and then install Windows on the new hard drive plus the computer's device drivers and your programs.
