The problem could be the dryer thermal fuse. It is usually located on the blower housing. If the dryer overheats, the thermal fuse blows to cut off power to the dryer. If the thermal fuse has blown, then generally the dryer won't start. If your dryer drum rotates, but does not heat, then the problem could be something else.
If it is the thermal fuse, it cannot be reset-if the fuse has blown, it needs to be replaced.
If it is the fuse ... it is also important to figure out WHY it blew ... or else the same problem could show up. Sometimes the thermal fuse blow due to a clogged vent. That should be checked.

SOURCE: kenmore gas dryer does not heat.heating element

Your gas dryer uses a pilot-less burner assembly that has an electric igniter. It is designed this way to prevent free-flowing gas from filling up the appliance cabinet without ignition. Such a condition could cause an explosion. The way the ignition system in most of today’s appliances work is like this:

1. Press the start button.

2. The igniter on the burner assembly begins to glow.

3. Once the igniter reaches the required current potential, the gas safety valve opens.

4. Gas is introduced into the manifold and you have ignition.

NOTE: It can take roughly 30 – 90 seconds from the time you press start to the time it takes for the gas to ignite.

If you are having problems with ignition, it may be something as simple as a bad igniter. Just because an igniter glows, does not necessarily mean it is good. They do become weak with age and if they do not draw the required current potential, they will not allow the gas safety valve to open. There are two basic types of igniters:

Carborundum (Cylindrical in shape) – needs to produce 2.5 to 3.0 amps for the gas safety valve to work.

Norton (Rectangular in shape) – needs to produce 3.2 to 3.7 amps for the gas safety valve to work.

NOTE: There is a UNIVERSAL FLAT BAR igniter on the market as well, that can be used as a substitute if the igniter type that came with your range is not available.
Your igniter appears to be the Norton type. The part number is 279311 and can be purchased at pcappliancerepair.com for about $22. Instructions should be included with the parts kit. NOTE: If the igniter connector plug does not match the one you have, there are instructions that explain how to cut and splice the connections using a set of ceramic wire lugs included with the kit. Do not use standard wire lugs as they will melt due to heat. CAUTION: Make sure you unplug the dryer and turn off the gas source prior to servicing.
If you have questions, or require additional assistance, please post back so I may be able to assist you better. I hope you find this information helpful. PS Use model number 110.76912690 for your search criteria.

SOURCE: kenmore dryer will not git hot HEATING ELEMENTS is

Hello, Ok if you have checked the heater, hi-limit, thermal fuse and thermostat and they are all good your problem is going to be with the centrifugal switch. This is built into the motor. To check this pull the wire harness off the motor and where you see the 2 big wires going into the plug make a jumper wire with 2 male spades and some wire. Jump this wires and then run a cycle for a few seconds. if the heater comes on you have found your problem. This will require you replace the motor. Hope this helps. Mike

The thermostat controls the heating element. If it comes to temp you know the element is OK. The thermostat can be tested. or just replace it.

Kenmore dryer 11062062100

If a dryer is not heating - and it is electric, then the first thing to check are the breakers. It runs on a double breaker and half of the breaker may be good (allowing for other functions other than heat). Half breaker will run motor and timer but the element needs both breakers (220v). If that is not the issue, then element may need to be inspected.

My whirlpool dryer comes on and runs good but it wont get hot can you tell me whats the problem

Hello there and welcome to fixya there are several things that could make this dryer not heat up
Here are the most common things

Thermal Fuse

If the dryer doesn\'t heat, but the drum
turns, check the thermal fuse(s). The thermal fuse protects the dryer
from overheating and helps to prevent fires. If the thermal fuse is
blown, it will have to be replaced.

Enter your model number to see parts for your dryer.

Help me find my model number

Gas Valve Solenoid

The gas valve has two or more electric
solenoids which open the valve to let the gas flow into the burner
assembly. If the dryer doesn\'t heat one or more of the solenoids may be
defective. If the igniter glows for 90 seconds but the burner flame
doesn\'t light, replace these coils as a set.

Dryer Igniter

If the dryer doesn\'t heat, the igniter might
be burned out. Check the igniter for continuity with an ohm meter. Dryer
igniters burn out over time, similar to a light bulb.

Heating Element

The heating element on an electric dryer can
burn out over time. If the dryer doesn\'t heat, the element should be
checked for continuity. The heating element cannot be repaired and must
be replaced if defective.

Heating Element Assembly

the heating element assembly on an electric
dryer can burn out over time. If the dryer doesn\'t heat, the element
assembly should be checked for continuity. The heating element assembly
cannot be repaired and must be replaced if defective.

Flame Sensor

Gas dryers have a flame sensor to detect the
heat given off by the flame. If the dryer doesn\'t heat, the flame sensor
might be defective. Check the flame sensor for continuity. This is not
as common as a burned out igniter or thermal fuse.

High Limit Thermostat

Although not common, if the dryer doesn\'t
heat the high limit thermostat can be defective. It can be checked for
continuity. If the thermostat is "open" the dryer doesn\'t heat.

Cycling Thermostat

The cycling thermostat regulates the
temperature of the air in the dryer. If the dryer doesn\'t heat it may be
caused by a defective cycling thermostat. This is not common.

Main Control Board

The main control board is normally not at
fault when the dryer doesn\'t heat. Check all of the other components in
this troubleshooting guide before replacing the main control board. The
main control board cannot be tested easily and must be replaced if it is
defective.

Timer
The timer is normally not at fault if the
dryer doesn\'t heat. In many situations where timers are replaced they
end up being returned. Check all of the more common components in this
troubleshooting guide before replacing the timer

Kenmore 1992 96292800 doesn't heat fuse and element have continuity

Hello, welcome to FixYa.

Based on your post I understand you have a kenmore dryer and have eliminated the fuse and element as being defective but still have no heat, correct ?

I have to ask though, have you checked the hi-limit thermostat and the thermal cut-out, which are actually on the element box as opposed to the fuse which is located on the blower housing ?

You can use the link below for a blow-out illustration of these components. #59 is the thermal fuse you referred to, #47 is the thermal cut-out and #48 is the hi-limit thermostat.

Let me know if you can add anything further or clarify if need be or if I can assist you in any other manner going forward and I'll be glad to do so. Good luck and thank you for choosing FixYa today.

Kenmore 65882 .. replaced heating element .. still doesn't heat .. is there a reset button??

Bummer, it is almost never the heating element. Check breakers, F U L L Y turn it off, forcefully so, and test again. Then look into the thermal limiters, and their connections, then look into the contact in the timer....
PLEASE remember to unplug the unit before any servicing or testing.

Kenmoore Model 86863100 - Dryer won't heat

The heating element on a Kenmore dryer typically reads about 9 to 13 ohms if good. Isolate the terminals by disconnecting any wires to ensure accuracy of your readings.

Kenmore Dryer -will spin but not heat and dry

The ohms reading on a heating element should never be zero. The resistance is what turns electricity into heat. You may have gotten a bad part. Check it again with NO power to the system. Unplug it or flip the breaker to be sure. You should definately get a reading on a good element. Good luck
