    Dear Drill,

Thanks for you info. But the problem is still there. We looked for a filter and could not find one. The copper line had a crease in it, so we fixed that thinking that might help, it did not. We are still getting hollow ice. My Magic Chef model number is RB21KA4AF. The model number on the ice maker is IM`s 106-626640. I would appreciate any info you could give to us.Thank you.

Hollow ice is a sign that the icemaker is not getting enough water.
You will want to make sure there is enough water coming to the fridge and any filters in the system are clean.
If you need help checking it, please post the complete model number from the fridge and I can help you more.

If you have a good, hard flow of water to the water valve, then make sure there is no ice built up inside the fill tube going into the icemaker.

If all is clear, feel inside the icemaker and make sure the ice is frozen,

Pop the front cover off the icemaker.

If the inside face of the icemaker is metal,

Make sure the adjustment arm is sitting about half way between the + and - synbols.

Rotate the large gear clockwise until the icemaker starts running on it's own.

Listen for the watervalve to open.

It should stay open about 7 seconds.

Feel in the icemaker and see if all the sections have filled to just under the ejector arm. If not, replace the water valve.

If the inside face of the icemaker is plastic,

Use an insulated wire with about 1/2" of exposed wire on the ends to jump between the T and H holes on the front of the module.

This will start the icemaker in a cycle, leave the wire in place 5 seconds then pull it out

Follow the same directions as above to check the water fill.

Ice maker does not make much ice

The amount of ice usually deepens on the freezer temperature. The colder it is the faster the ice production. Assuming the ice cubes are full size and not hollow.

Maytag msd2356ae ice maker will only give me hollow ice any ideas.

Hollow ice cubes are most often cause by insufficient water supply. Icemakers fill for about 7.5 seconds, resulting in about 4.75 oz. (140 cc) of water into the ice cube mold. If there s not enough water pressure available at the fridge, cubes may end up hollow and/or the fill could continue to dribble, eventually causing the fill tube to freeze closed.
pls rate my suggestion.........

Freezer too cold and not much water. When it is empty of ice check the water level in the ice tray. Probably not even halfway up. Unplug fridge for 8 hours and plug it back in. Need more help please live chat. If this has helped, please rate as fixya.

My whirlpool aide by side fridge icemaker is making buzzing or humming noise

Welcome to fixya.
I'm Huuum and happy to assist you,

You said, your ice maker is making a buzzing or humming noise ice maker isn't making much ice. . fridge is about 2 1/2 years old.

This sounds like a clogged water line or a electrical short !
I would get service rather than take a chance on electrical fire.
Or burn up the circuit in the ice maker.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to advise you.

Ice maker quit making ice

your refrig has a built in bypass in the filter housing so yes it will work with out a filter in place. if you have not replaced your filter in the last 6 months that is likely the problem. Hollow cubes are usually a sign of not enough water getting into the icemaker then it cycles too fast and harvests hollow cubes.

when the hollow cubes fall into your bucket they bust and put water in with your cubes freezing them together. so by solving your water supply problem you'll solve most of your icemaking issues..

Admiral Refrigerator makes hollow ice

Hollow ice cubes are due to low water pressure to the fridge. Water thru the door should have good pressure behind it. This is a good indicator of water pressure. Should be able to fill a glass quickly. Causes for low pressure are self-piercing saddle valves on the water line (switch to drill type (1/4") valve) or reverse osmosis system or filtering system on water line to the fridge. R.O. systems should not be used. Increase water pressure and that will fix the hollow cubes. The loud noise may be the sound of the water valve on the fridge when it is acivated. This sound is normal and some are louder than others.
