The bulbs were going out very often in my tv then one day I replaced a bulb and now the screen is black. The sound is still good but I have no picture.
It's possible that your ballast might have gone out or it has very poor voltage. A ballast is the one in charge of sending all the energy to the lamp so it can stay on.discountdashmerchantdotcom

IT sounds like the ccfl tubes (the bulbs that help light your tv) are going out. Think about replacing them. You'd need to take it in to get this done. Also, it may be cheaper just to replace the TV entirely, given the cost of replacing the tubes.
Good Luck!
This sounds to me like it is a bulb issue, and not something worse, like failed capacitors. If that is the case, then yes, it is worth repairing it.
You need to get the old bulb out, either by removing it yourself, or by having someone take it out for you, and the take the old bulb to Fry's or BestBuy.
They both keep tv projection bulbs for flat screen tv's in stock.
I hope that I've helped you understand what is going on, and that it helped.
The tubes are most likely not the trouble, sounds like you have a bad screen asy part number is 204809,must use the generic,Thomson discontuned this part.
1) In customer menu, adjust all video controls to center, then
increase "picture" to 3/4
2)Locate focus/screen adjust block above chassis...adjust
RGB screen controls for best mixture = B/W tracking..
Check with customer color level at minimum..should look gray.
If you turn screen controls up too much, you will see faint
re-trace lines in picture.....once B/W looks good,put color level

I finally wet out and bought the tv repair manual. Thought the problem had to be more than the bulb because i was losing sound too. Everything in hte repair manual brought me to the bulb or the ballast. I ordered a replacemant bulb. I spent about 150, which included overnight shipping. I replaced the bulb just before Thanksgiving and haven't had any problems as of yet....
I had the same exact problem.
I removed the bulb and cleaned it. There is a small screen at the top of the bulb and it was covered with dust. Once it was cleaned I replaced the bulb and it solved the problem.
Thanks to those who posted the solutions
Sounds like the bulb again. In the manual it says that the power light flashes to let you know that the bulb is bad. When I got a replacement bulb, I noticed that the wiring on it was opposite of the one on my set and had to change the wiring to match my set.
