Genie garage door opener chain adjustment?

My door will not raise or lower. The motor is working but the chain may to be slipping possibly because it is loose? I can't see how to adjust it. Anyone know how to tell me what to do?

Finally opened it up this morning. It is not stripped. Didn't find any shavings or debris in the housing. Door will lower, but will not raise. Could it be a spring or something else easy to fix or should I just get a new one?

Remove the cover and check the main drive gear. It is most likely stripped.

They are not light weight but there is no reason if the motor can raise it, then you cannot raise it by hand.

Pull the cord that releases the traveler from the door and manually raise and lower the door to make sure the door isn't binding anywhere. Then actuate the opener and watch to ensure the traveler moves along the rail. If this is all successful, you may need to adjust the sensitivity of the opener.
Good luck!

How do I stop my craftsman garage door opener from whining? it whines on the inside of the motor

is it gear or chain, is it genie or liftmaster. check for smooth operation of door by disconnecting motor. check tightness of cable/chain running down rail. this may be putting undue stress on gears and ruining plastic drive gear.

Garage opener try to close door when door at close position

There are upper and lower limit settings, it sounds like you have the lower limit set to low. Adjust it so it stops the door as it contacts the floor and see if this solves the problem. It is possible these limit controls are damaged and will not stay set. If that is the case it may be best to replace the opener if you cannot find a replacement.

Remove the cover from the motor unit and you will see the limit switch assembly. If you watch the operation I think you will understand it and be able to adjust it properly.

The motor on my Genie Chain Glide garage door operator runs but the chain does not run or move.

If the chain does not move but the motor runs then you have stripped the internal gears. I would replace here. These chain glide units are not very strong. There might be a chance the chain is telescoping down the rail but the trolley is not hooked up. Pull the red cord back toward the motor to engage. Thanks BB
