Dvd rw not detected in Bios and not working V5535 Fujitsu

Recently I changed HDD on my Fujitsu V5535 so laptop without any OS as old HDD failed. At the moment laptop can detect HDD but not DVD RW. I tried DVD RW on the other laptop and it works perfect. As soon as it goes back to original machine Bios can't recognise it. Is it software or hardware problem? I can't install OS so would appreciate any solutions to solve the problem.
Regards
Terry

Both links require you to disassemble part or most of the laptop. Keep your screws labeled as you remove them so you can get them back into the correct places later.

No disk drives found/no os found. hdd hitachi sata not installed in bios. bios does not allow changes in this field.

Its a hardware problem, it seems that your laptop fails to detect your HDD as your HDD is damaged and is unusable. Replace it with another HDD or purchase a new HDD.

1.FIRST YOU DO ONE THING IF YOU USING XP OS MEANS CHANGE THE SATA MODE TO IDE OTHER WISE CHANGE THE SATA MODE TO AICH.
2.IF BOOT WITH CD MEANS CHANGE BOOT PRIORITY CD/DVD ROM
2.IF YOU BOOT WITH HDD MEANS CHOOSE HDD.
BIOS OPTION----CONTINUOSLY PRESS F2 KEY.

I suggest doing a manual reset, and if all fails start by removing certain hardware equipment such as memory, wifi cards, etc. If you need more info, please ask.

Asus P5KPL SE & Sata, Bios "Not Detected Problem"..

The Asus bios won't show SATA devices.
However if you are using Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (or newer operating system then the devices should be detected. If this is not happening then enter the bios -- Storage Configuration -- Configuration Enhanced and set the IDE devices to compatible. This allows all drives to be "seen" and you should then be able to load an OS.

I change dvd-rw, HDD, reset Memory, but I can't load system.

I'd try a new ram stick or if you have 2 in remove one at a time & reboot. If it works, that's your problem. If not then it's safe to say it's the motherboard.

Wont boot

go to BIOS and enable the secondary drive auto detect.
if you manaully set the drive to primary, secondar. the system should be able to detect it as you have set it. if you select cable select or auto. the sytem will put the drive connected to the end of the IDE cable as primary.

HP DV4000 Series not detecting newly installed DVD±RW LightScribe

The type of CD/DVD recorder is suppose to be automatically detected by your Plug N Play portion of your BIOS. Reboot and press the "F" key combination that will bring up the boot process as opposed to the CMOS Settings. See if the correct DVD model shows up as one of your boot electives. You may be able to change it in that window. If not then reboot to BIOS and change it there.

sounds like you have not only a vista issue here, but a potential boot sector virus...if it won't boot from cd, then there's a major issue with that machine.Fujitsu to the rescue, looks like to me
