The largest plug goes onto the motherboard along with a small square one (4 wire). You will have several similar flat, 4 wire connectors that are about 1 inch wide. (Yellow, Black, Black, Red) These go into the CD/DVD's. They are all the same so just use length to make your choice. Older hard drives with a wide cable (about 2 inches) on them take the same connector. The newer hard drives (SATA) that have a cable that is less than 1/2 inch wide need connectors that are thin and about 3/4 inch wide. If you look carefully on the backs of your devices, it should be clear which type to use. Those that look identical, are identical.

Hello
I change my power supply for a 400 watt Dynex on my computer model Gateway 831 GH. Since I receive an error message on a bleu screen, sometimes the computer shut down, and freeze.
Do you know what is my problem ?

They try to make them "idiot proof." Only the correct one should fit in the power receptacle on the dvd/cd player.

Try the different ones and don't force anything...

Power supply is no on

First, make sure it is plugged in correctly. If it is, make sure the power switch is set to on. After that, if it does not run, it is most likely dead, and will need to be replaced.

I recently purchased a Dynex 400 watt atx power supply for my Dell optiplex gx280 (slim form). The reason I did this is I have a new PNY geforce 8400 GPU and my old power supply is only 160 watts (1/2 the...

Sounds like the power supply is not compatible with the motherboard. If the motherboard can't support a 400 watt powers supply you will either get a blinking light or nothing at all. Those optiplex's use a proprietory power supply because of the pin connectors and how a power supply is supposed to fit in there. If you can't find a 400 watt power supply that fits then get a hold of Dell and see if they sell one for that computer.
