SOURCE: Softener tray filling with water

open the dispenser all the way, place your finger towards the back left of dispenser.you should see a tab, depress the tab and pull entire dispenser cup out.the bleach and fab soft part of the disp has a removable tray.clean all pieces out including the long shafts on the insert.you will more than likely find a build up of softener, this breaks the siphon and does not allow the water to drain out.good luck

SOURCE: after cycle, water is in the softener and bleach

Water floods the dispenser compartments at the start of the cycle to dilute/dissolve the softener, bleach, and detergent. The reason why water is in the compartment after the cycle is that, the detergent, the softener, and/or the bleach does not flow into the tub properly. It's either the dispenser assembly is clogged or excessive amount of detergent, softener or bleach is used. Clean the dispenser assembly and make sure to use no more than two tablespoons of powdered HE detergent or one-and-a-half ounces if liquid HE detergent.

  1. Unscrew the two screws on the back of the top plate then pull it back then upward.
  2. Pull out the dispenser drawer.
  3. Unscrew the two screws then push the dispenser assembly out.
  4. Unscrew the nut at the lower part of the dispenser.
  5. Remove the four connectors from the valves.
  6. Unscrew the two screws from the back of the cabinet.
  7. Reinstall the dispenser assembly in reverse order.

SOURCE: kenmore frontloader fabric softener dispenser is clogged

There should be pins located somewhere on the dispenser or a grey thing located inside the dispenser, push it down and that will release the dispenser from the washer. Afterwards you can put in in the dishwasher, this should clean out any clogging residue.

Why is my Samsung washer dispensing softener during the wash cycle?

You would have to remove the top or the case and you will see a plastic box with a lid that directs water to the right section. From there you should be able to work out the problem.

I have a LG front load washer and my fabric softener stays in the tray.

Your fabric softener dispenser is clogged. Use a long pipe cleaner as if you were unclogging a drain to clear it. After it’s unclogged dilute fabric with water from now on.

Front loader. Why doesn't fabric softener dispenser empty?

It can be two things. First, what is left in the dispenser? If its the fabric softener, then the water valve may be faulty. The water valve will have multiple feeds and the fabric softener might be bad. If its a combination of water and softener, then the dispenser might be clogged. You can remove the slide out tray and clean it. Look for build up of fabric softener that might be there. Good Luck?

How do I get water out of fabric softener cup

This is normal to have left over standing water in the softener dispenser cup. That being said, some units can have more standing water than others because the machine isn't level (try leveling the unit).

Note: Softener is a "wax" and can clog up the water inlet openings. You can remove the whole dispenser assembly by pulling all the way out and depressing a button while pulling on dispenser tray. (button located middle-back)

Softener tray won't fill with water; although it fills the bleach side tray just fine. No error codes, just an empty bleach tray but full softener tray.

I suggest there may be hard water mineral deposits in the hose or orifice to the tray. Try soaking it with some Coke (yes I mean the soft drink) overnight and see if the flow improves. Either that or you can try some CLR but Coke should be enough to gently remove any deposits there are in the tray, hose or line.

Fabric softener premature release

In my case it was simply a matter of cleaning the nozzles that spray the water into the MAIN DETERGENT compartment. Turns our that when the washer was filling up, some nozzles were partially clogged and were directing water to the side where the softener compartment was, causing the fluid level to rise and therefore releasing the softener early. The washer was NOT spraying water in the softener side, what happens is that the dispenser tray is configured in a way that when the fluid reaches a certain max level in the softener/bleach trays, it completely drains. A way to test for this problem would be to completely dry the softener tray and start the wash cycle like you normally would (including detergent), only without adding any softener to the tray and see if after filling there is any water in the softener tray, this would prove that the water is coming from the other side.

Bosch Washing Machine Softener Tray not emptying

You need to replace the cold water inlet valve. If the machine is older than one year it may be clogged on the side that moderates the cold water to the bleach and softener compartment. Replacing the valve fixed the problem. During the cycle when the softener dispenser fills it should fill quickly and no or little water should be seen in the soap dispenser area. If a lot of water goes into the soap dispense and little into the softener area the valve is clogged.

Bosch Classixx 1000: Won't drain

The Solution: Top up the softener tray with extra water so that it is up to the 'max level' mark.

The softener tray works by a siphon action. Thus, the reason the tray does not empty is that not enough water is added by the machine during the softening cycle, so that the machine does not completely fill the softening tray; only when the softening tray is filled beyond the 'max' mark does the siphon action works. A partially filled tray will never empty - it's impossible due to the siphon.

The reason that not enough water is added to the tray during the softening action is that the water inlet of the machine is partial blocked (you can try to fix that) but it is simpler to just added more water to the conditioner tray.

Thus, the easiest way to ensure that the softener tray empties every time (after adding the softener to the softener tray of course) is to top up the softener tray with extra water, top it up to the 'max level' line (keep a bottle of water by the machine). That way, even if only a little water is added to the softener tray during the softening cycle by the machine it is enough to trigger the siphon action and the tray will empty!

Works for me every time, and no need to remove any parts - I used to take the tray out, clean it, scrub the outlet holes that fill the tray etc, but they used to gum up again quite quickly!

Hope that helps

Fabric softner

Remove the dispenser tray. Inspect the area just above the fabric softener portion of the dispenser. There should be a series of holes where water feeds into the tray during the rinse cycle. Sometimes these holes become clogged with fabric softener residue. If the holes are clogged, water will never dispense the fabric softener out and it will stay in the tray. If you take some cotton swabs and meticulously clean all the holes out, I bet your problem will go away. Let me know if this was helpful to you.

Washer

Most likely your softener tray is clogged. There are some softeners which clog easier, this can be diluted with a little water before you pour it into tray. The softener tray needs to be cleaned.
