Roku was working, i put it on pause , now the same picture is locked in , and can not get it active and resume playing watching a movie

It is most likely that the laser is not a problem because it can read the first part of the disk. If the laser is defective, it willn ot recognize the disk. The problem is probably the seek mechanism. It can only access the inner tracks but cannot read the tracks further from the center.

Please post any solution that you may hear of. I have spoken to Sony and searched many forums and have come up with nothing. Except that one guy claimed he had this problem and when he installed linux his machine was able to use the drive thru linux.

I have the same exact problem with that dvd player. So far i am not aware of any solutions yet. I called phillips and they said they will try to create new firmware uprgade for the dvd player to fix the problem and they told me to keep an eye out for it on the website. I installed the most recent firmware too but that didnt help at all. The only other solution i see is maybe downloading the entire movie from pirate website and burn the dvd files onto a high quality disc at slow speed with a good dvd writing program.

You can connect it to a pc monitor and watch movies. the Roku is a standalone device and does not need a pc to work.
