Question about Hunter Fan Co. 60 In.Brushed Nickel Stonebridge Remote Control Ceiling Fan

1 Answer

Wacky remotes I have 2 hunter fans with hunter remotes. One will turn on the fan when it is off by itself and the other one will turn on the light by itself. It did this even when I only had the first one installed. The second one turns the light on by itself and also lowers the fan speed after a while by itself, otherwise they both work normally. Thanks you, Roger

We installed a 27185 remote kit in a hunter fan, and factory settings. The fan light goes on and off by itself. I changed the dip switches( matched them to the remote to the controller), and the fan and...

I have had the same problem with the light coming on intermittently by itself. At first I also could not change the settings and have the remote work with the new settings. But I found out that when you change the dip switch of the receiver you must turn off the power using the wall switch or the circuit breaker and turn it back on before the receiver will use the new dip setting. I am still waiting to see if the light will come back on after changing the dip switches from 1-on, 2-on, 3-on, 4-off to 1-off, 2-on, 3-on, 4-on and the remote's jumpers from 1-jumpered, 2-jumpered, 3-jumpered, 4- no jumper to 1-no jumper, 2-jumpered, 3-jumpered, 4- jumpered.

I have a Hunter fan with remote. The fan or the light comes on by itself with no one around

See my post below: (Sorry, we're in the same boat)

Hunter ceiling fan with remote, have 5, 4 are seriously impaired! Lights dim to half strengh after variable time 10 seconds-30 minutes. And lights or fan turns on randomly (come home & fan on full blast), and one in which the lights won't dim (just blinks when try to dim)! Hunter "kinda" admits there is serious problem with remote but doesn't have a solution. Tells people to try changing to different code due to possible interference (pain in **** to change code on ceiling base!), was totally ineffective. Then replaced receiver in ceiling base (another total pain) in 3 fans with new ones sent Hunter, still totally useless. Hunter's suggestion, don't use the remote, just use the pull chain. If I had wanted a pull chain fan, I'd have bought a pull chain fan. TOTALLY USELESS! Moral of story: If you want a remote ceiling fan (my friend found out that all their remotes are made by the same company in Taiwan), don't buy Hunter!!!!! P.S. I found a "Kinda"- fix for the lights dimming to half strenth. After turning on the lights, wait 1 second, then dim lights slightly, they will then stay on the strength that you dim them to. - P.P.S. When I changed the receiver in the one where the lights won't dim, it "solved" that problem...Now it has the same problem as the others, lights or fan turn on randomly!

When I turn the light off with the remote control

im realy not trying to be a smart a*s but bont you only ever use lights at night?? i know i do?
it sounds like its the programer chip within the light that giving you the problem if taking the batterys out the controler dont stop this, its down to the light,
well there is one other thing it may be,,,
a friendly gost playing tricks on you???
or it could be that its getting a surge or spike of power from some were and that tricks the controler in the light to turn itself on???
sorry about that bit of fun as first just could not resist it????

We use the remote to turn the hunter fan on and during the night the fan shuts off by itself. Is it in the remote? What can we do?

There is two things it can be. It can be the fan motor getting hot causing it to shut down. it has a thermoprotector switch that shuts down the electric motor, to stop from burning up the fan motor. And there is also a adjustment to run the fan for 2 minute and shut it down, pause 2 minute and start back up. there are 4 to 5 settings to chose from. anyway i hope this is helpfull to you. and ps you can clean the motor with air hose blow it both ways to loosen all the dust. later sawdust46

Our fan light comes on all by itself in the night. the fan itself does not always respond to the remote, mostly when turning on. I had to replace 85112-02 a couple of times when the fan was new. Now what?

Your power is going off and back on during the night (that, or a poltergeist is pushing your power switch. :-). The Hunter 85112-xx is programmed to turn the light on when power has been off and is restored (this is so you can turn it off/on with the wall switch as well as with the remote). No way that I know of to get around this. I find it VERY annoying.

Yes I have done that before.you open the battery compartment and you will see 4 jumpers.Look on the on you want to replace, then change the ones on the new one.Write down the jumper locations before moving them so you can have them for the other fan.

Hunter fan/light with remote installed turns on by itself

Many times this is caused by stray frequencies in the neighborhood. And, sometimes changing the frequencies on the remote and receiver reduce the occurrence.

But it sounds like this may not be the case, here. If not, the receiver in the fan is the culprit and should be replaced. No danger, just annoying.
