Grease marks are a sure sign of the drum bearings breaking down, and if the machine is jumping, this shows they are starting to seize.
To check how bad the bearings are, open the loading door and hold 2 of the agitator bars that run from front to back of the drum, try to "wiggle" the drum and if it moves side to side or up and down more than a couple of mm. then the bearings have gone down. If the machine is older than say 4 years it may not be financhialy viable to get it repaired as new machines are not that expensive these days. That decision is up to you.

Why won't my Maytag Washer extract water properly from clothing after going through the complete cycle?

Belt tension spring faulty, belt loose. Pump partly blocked, look for coin caught in hoses. Internal clutch failed in gearbox, replace gearbox. Gearbox pulley wrongly adjusted, remove pulley, re-grease, re-install with correct clearance.

I get black marks like a crayon or ink line on certain light colored shirts after washing my clothes. Not sure if it's coming from washer or dryer. I use a stain remover and it's not coming out completely.

is the black marks grease look under the bottom of the machine and look on the side walls of the machine if u have a line of grease around both sides then you would need to change the transimission on the machine if it is not grease and you determine that is pen u might try looking in between the two baskets. And lastly ihave seen pen cartriges enlodge inside the pump which does cause the pen to leak hope this helps

Grease gets on clothes from inside washer - not always but often enough to ruin several items. Also, once in a while it makes a "not normal" louder sound when spinning. We inherited this washer/dryer combo...

hello. generally this mystery grease comes from an article of clothing placed in the machine, not the machine itself. Problem is once that grease gets in the machine it can stick to the tub and contaminate other clothes in later wash loads. Look for the grease and wipe it away with a product like 409 degreaser. Black streaks on my laundry

Marks on clothing in a washer are usually caused by a reaction between detergents and fabric softeners, especially cheaper bargain brands.
If you are sure that the black streaks are getting on the clothing in the washer versus the dryer, it could also be oil from the transmission getting into the washer tub. See if the spots will come out using a petroleum distillate of some kind. (paint thinner, etc). If a petroleum distillate will remove the marks, it is most likely something petroleum based that is making the marks.
This is a rare occurrence, and most marks on laundry are caused by the dryer. Typically, the drum rollers wear out and rubber and metal filings can get into the dryer and mark/streak clothing. Hope this helped and sorry for the problem you are having. Best wishes.

Gray marks on light colored clothes

That is exactly what it is, grease. It is coming from the transmission past a worn or defective seal usually the transmission will have to be replaced.

Grease, or some substance on clean clothes

You need to thouroughly clean the large door seal in all of its grooves and the inside of the door as well. Just put on gloves and use detergent to do this and rags or pape rtowels. Also make sure the inside of the tub is clean and that you are not overfilling the washer. Good luck.
