Question about NEC Dterm DTP 16D-1 Corded Phone

1 Answer

We have 6 extensions on our system and after moving around the offices the names displayed on the phones are incorrect for that extension - how do we change this? We also have one of our phones that has the same extension programmed on two buttons, how do we change one of these buttons to a different extension? And also, how do we initiate dnd on an extension and then take it off?

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. To activate DND on the phones you can follow this procedure--

To set DND on the phone--
• Press Speaker Receive dial tone.
• Press DND or dial DND access code. LED lights.

To cancel DND on the phone--
• Press Speaker Receive dial tone.
• Press DND. LED goes out.

To rename a phone you’ll need to follow this procedure--

A name with up to 8 characters can be entered to display the name
on other Dterm telephones when making a call.
• Press Speaker Receive dial tone.
• Dial the Name Assignment access code and receive special dial tone.
• Using the keypad, depress the key with the desired letter to display the first letter on the key. The display will indicate the numerical designation. Subsequent depressions will advance through the letters on that key. The following TABLE can be used as a guide to
indicate the key and the number of depressions required to display numbers, letters, spaces and periods.
• When the desired letter is displayed, depression of the Transfer key will change the letter to a lower case letter (default is upper case). Depress the Hold key to enter that letter and advance to the next entry.
• Repeat the previous two steps until the desired name is displayed and entered.
• Press Speaker.

For example, to enter "Paul":
7 7 hold 2 2 trf hold
8 8 8 trf hold
5 5 5 5 trf hold

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Change internal directory on optipoint 500

The extension name and extension number are set in the system programming. Use manager 'e' and change them in the station view. If you are swapping people around and want them to keep their extension numbers and names, you should re-patch the cables feeding to the wall sockets rather than change the programming (if you can).

How do I change the display names on the various extensions in my office as employees change? Assistance would be greatly appreciated. thank you!

When your phone system was installed, someone either did his job and gave you instructions for making simple changes or he didin't. Names are programmed under system command 004 from the master phone. IIRC it's covered in the OM under System Administator or something similar.
You'll also find programming for your extension in the same book.

How to move extension numbers from office to office using nortel t7316e

There is a feature built-in to the norstar system called "Set Relocation". When this feature is turned on, you can move a working extension to an unused/activated jack and the extension, features and mailbox will stay with the phone.
Have your system administrator turn the feature on, then move up to 2 phones at a time. The phone will go through 2 bootup sessions - be patient and don't unplug the phone.
Good Luck!

In my workplace, when you move the Nortel M7100 phone, the programmed info (extension number, etc) moves along, just like if I was rewiring all phones.
