follow this steps and fix it. God bless you
Lid Switch
This is the most common reason for the washer not spinning or agitating. This is easy to check. You will need to remove the switch, this varies with model type but the testing will be the same. When the lid is closed the switch should have continuity when the lid is opend the switch should have no continuity. If it differs replace the LID switch

To check the timer you will need to refer to the wiring diagram or disassemble to access the motor. Check the leads from the timer to the motor when turned to a wash cycle this should have 120 volts. If not replace the timer if it does the timer is not the problem.

To check the motor you will need to disassemble the washer to access the motor. First you can check the motor windings, to do this remove the plug and connect ohmeter to terminals. Refer to the tech sheet or service manual for the proper reading. Check motor for shorts by connecting ohmeter to terminals and motor housing should have no continuity. Connect voltmeter to motor wire connector and check for voltage. You should have 120 volts, if you do and the motor does not run replace the motor. If it does not have power the problem is elsewhere.

If your washer is a belt drive type make sure the belt is tight. Check for black soot from belt wear. Replace if it has excessive wear or broke.

Motor Coupler
This is a fairly common problem with direct drive machines but inexpensive and easy to replace. The Motor Coupler transfers power from the motor to the transmission. The following video will walk you through the replacement of motor coupler

The transmission does not usually fail. To check this on a direct drive remove the motor and then turn tub inside. If it spins freely with no noise the problem is elsewhere. If it is noisy it needs replacing this is expensive and depending on the age of your machine you may not want to replace it. On a belt drive remove the belts and spin tub.

The water wont drain what should i do, our what part should i buy?

Your part (lid switch)

Remove number 16 (each side )
Video how to bypass

This washer lid switch won't allow for wash or spin or pump if the lid switch is broken.
If the switch is ok then check the motor start capacitor. If it turns out to be good then yall need a timer. Or sometimes that timer connection will back out a hair from vibration shove it back in nice and tight.

Wont agitate or spin belt is still on what else could i do?????

problem could be with your motor, timer, or lid switch. The front panel is tabbed you can remove it with a paint scraper. sounds like you have already removed it. You can cut the two wires to your lid switch at the top right its magnetic and bypass them to eliminate the lid switch. Other than that you would have to get the schematic from behind the control panel and check for proper 120v. down to the motor windings. the new motor will come as a rework and wiring must be done if you have proper voltage down to the motor. It will come with a new capacitor so you will need to read the instructions carefully. In my opinion if its a bad motor I would junk the machine and buy a whirlpool direct drive.

Hope this helps _MJ_

The tub won't spin or agitate. We had a service repair person who came out and said it was the motor. We purchased a new motor and have installed it. The tub still won't spin or agitate so it was not...

In this case there several tips to fix this problem. One of this tips is to test the lid switch first.

Test the switch for continuity using a multitester. Set the multitester to the ohms setting X1. Place a probe on each terminal. The multitester should display a reading of infinity. Depress the button on the lid switch and the reading should change from a reading of infinity to roughly zero. If it does not pass both of these tests, the switch should be replaced.
Some lid switches also have a fuse, you can visually inspect the fuse or test it for continuity with a multitester. If the fuse is bad, replace it with one of the same rating.
The lid switch ensures that the lid is closed before enabling the machine to spin or agitate. This feature was added after serious injuries resulted from people reaching into an operating washing machine.

Test the timer control
Test the centrifugal switch
Test the water level switch

Inspect the motor coupler
Inspect the driver belt(belt drive only)
Inspect under the washer for soot (clutch)
Test the motor
Inspect the pulley
Test the transmission

This tips are useful if all of this tips are fix.

Good luck!

GE washer GNSR2140A0WW wont spin/agitate but fills and drains

Hello, your problem is going to be with the lids switch, in this machine it is going to be a magnetic contact. You can confirm this my pulling the front panel off and accessing the wireing to the lids switch, If you have electrical knowledge bypass the lid switch using a wire nut and run the machine. If all is ok make sure you relpace the lid switch since it is there for a reason. If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to comment again. Good Luck!!!
