First we need to break out of the cycle. Try booting into safe mode using the f8 key on startup. Usually press power and start tapping the button or it will miss it. Let it boot completley and then open my computer and see if you have any space left on your C drive. If you do then shutdown and reboot into normal windows. If not empty recycle bin and run start-all programs-accesories-system tool- disk cleanup then reboot into normal windows.

Going into safe mode should get you out of the cycle at which point you want to manually run the windows update from either the start menu or from internet explorer tools. That will download new versions of the updates and install them.

If it is still in that cycle then you might need some local help as the update files need to be deleted. These are found in the windows directory so you have to be careful not to delete the wrong files. If you ran the disk cleanup that should have deleted these files and made enough room if not then I would need to know exact update names and so on to be able to help you with this step.

My computer is stuck in the configuring updates: stage 3 of 3 - 0% complete.

give it some time to install that update, if its still not working then might be possible that the update was not downloaded properly or it got corrupted while installation due to which its stucked on stage 3 of 3.

In these situations we can try to restart the computer into the safe mode and and then check which update is causing the computer to stuck on stage 3 of 3. If possible try to kill that update in safe mode too. To help you on that you need to provide me some more information.

Hi follis_valpn,

If you are trying to install the Windows Update 937287, you will get this (configuring updates stage 3 of 3. 0% complete) message. If you are getting the message even after restarting the Computer, you may need to repair the Windows (using the installation Disc) or restore the Computer to an earlier date.

First you can try restarting the Computer in the Safe Mode and do the System Restore. To access the Safe Mode, please press and hold the F8 Key whlie restarting the Computer. Then, please click "Start", "All Programs", "Accessories", "System Tools" and "System Restore". Then, please select a restore point (Date) when the Computer was working correctly. This should restore the Computer to the selected date and fix the issue.

The, alternative option is to use the Windows Installation Disc and perform the "Repair" option.

The issue will be fixed after you perform any of the above steps. To avoid the issue in future (whlie doing the Windows Update), please download and install the Windows Update 937287 from Microsoft Download Center separately.

Below is the link to obtain the Update.

Hope this helps..

Good Luck!

Stuck on the updating screen

Reboot your computer and when the message appears at the desktop that there are updates available, click on the link to see what updates are available. Make sure any third-party antivirus and firewalls are disabled. Uncheck any that are "Optional" unless you really think your system needs them. Try installing those that are critical/important first, and leave the rest for afterwards.
