Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I've lost the operating system on my emachine. Unfortunately, I tried to restore it using the restore disks from my OLD emachine. Of course it didn't work. I've called emachine support and it's an automated service and asks for a seriel number - which my machine does not have. It has several stickers with numbers but none of which, when I punch it into the phone, are valid. then it hangs up. There is no option to speak to a live person, even if you press "0". We have emailed emachine support three tiomes now with no response. All I need is the correct restore disks.

I need to restore my compter to facotory using system recovery and I don't have the disk. I have a Emachines EL1850G-42W

Hi christoph73030

You have three choices..
1...Try to do a system restore to an earlier date.
This will take your comuter back to an earlier time when it was operating good, pick one of the darkened dates before your troubles started..
To do a restore: Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore
2...Buy a restore disk from Emachines
3...Buy and Install a new operating system...
Sorry for the bad news
Please take time to rate me

PC System Restore without disk?

Telephone eMachines, and order a replacement set of "System Restore" CD-ROM disks.
Probably about $20 for the set, and $20 for overnight-courier shipping.
Use those disks to reinstall the Operating System that was originally installed on the computer.

Yes, when you use the actual discs that came with the computer you computer will be restored to normal. These Operating systems are called BIOS locked CDs, if they detect the right brand BIOS / motherboard they will install the OEM edition of the OS, hence you need not activate it or it will get activated properly.

Can i use a compaq system restore disk on an emachine? I don't have the boot up disks that i was supposed to create when i got this emachine, but i do have some old compaq ones, both use windows xp os...

You cannot use the restore disks from those other systems to do a restore. Even though you may be able to extract the XP install files, you won't be able to authenticate it because the disk is OEM and reads data off of the system it is supposed to install on.

If you have an emachine, contact them for the restore disk, or search the internet for a restore disk for your model. Some people sell them, even on ebay.

I lost my d recovery partions and i dont have erecovery option or nti backup.it under warranty and i dont feel i should have to pay for the disc to fix it

Unfortunately if you did not create the restore disks you will either need to purchase them from eMachines (usually around $30) or buy/download an operating system and install it yourself using the drivers located on the eMachines website for this model.

Can't restore emachine

Telephone eMachines, and order a replacement "System Recovery" set of CDs. Given the serial-number and model-number of your computer, they know what O.S. originally was factory-shipped with your computer, and they will replace that part.
Probably, a small fee for courier-shipping.

Emachines t5212 system restore backup files, please help!!

Hello,

If you only your files to be copied in the other or any storage disk then you can remove the hard disk of your machine and then attached it to the other functional machine. in there you can browse and copy all the important files. after copying all your files then you can take back the hard drive to your non functional machine and then install new operating system. documentation found here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316941

tell me if something wrong with your system when applying the solution.
