The main power supply regulator section circuit fault. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.

It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

SOURCE: hitachi 55 inch went black and standby light stays

Hope you already resolve it, if not, here what I went through 1. go to http://www.service-docs2.com or similar place to get a service manual for your model ($10-18) 2. Open the back and follow instructions how to remove and test the SDR-D and SDR-U board on the far left (take one off, see if you could see half the picture). Inpsect the chips on those two boards, you might be able to spot the burned out holes (that would be the defected board, seemed to be a known issue for particular models) 3. If it is the board, go to ebay and get the pulled out board replacement ($70-90) I fixed my 50 inch plasma this way

SOURCE: toshiba 55 inch hdtv lamp

this is a crt type tv- no lamps just crt's if it was moved recently then a seal could have been damaged on the crt cuasing coolant to leak down the neck getting into the socket. this will cause trouble for sure also could have a crack in the crt. look for a sticky liquid in the bottom of the unit.
sometime the crt's can ark and rip out a video output chip on the crt socket check it out.
not common but not unheard of.cheers

SOURCE: screen went black while watching, no sound

Almost for certain your power supply board is bad, Can be repaired at the component level only if you have some electronics savy! Good Luck!

SOURCE: My Mitsubishi Diamond 55 inch tv just went black

lindapuzino0,

I have relatively bad news for you. Your model has known issues witht the DM board and power supply board. Mitsubishi has no spares and their repair incentive has ended. I have a tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r7065906-mitsubishi_turn_flashing_power_timer which explains the problem and where to get a kit which could possibly repair your unit if you think you have the technical skills.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating. Please consider a testimonial. Thank you.

I have a 55 inch JVC tv,today the screen went black but still have sound, also the buttons on the back wont work, but the channel down button turns it on and off? What is wrong with it?

Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary..

Samsung Curved Tv screen went black, how much will it cost to fix?

If set is less than a year old it is covered by warranty. Otherwise it is gonna cost more than what you want to pay for a relatively new set!

Hi I have a 55 inch LCD TV that while I was watching TV it went completely black when I turned it off and the on again there were rainbow vertical lines moving across the screen then at some points there...

My first thought would be to check your TV on multiple inputs to verify that it IS the TV and NOT isolated to your input cable(s). If you can get a solid blue color to come up on the screen by changing inputs then it would really narrow down the issue(s).
Hope this helps.
